Then the kit should be from 1984 and would be production number 1203. This should be one of the last kits prior to going to the white and red kit.

Hopefully the dies had been sharpened prior to crunching the parts.

So Bill a kit with a number of 91012 what year of production would it be from.

That should be the white/red kit. Production would be 1989 and it would be kit #1012.

    Stickbuilder and Dash7ATP,

Thanks for the tips. It is indeed a hobby and I plan to take my time and enjoy building this one. It will be slow, but it's not about time. I have other planes that I will fixed/finished so I can fly again.

Thanks again for all the info.

Not for me, Bill. Ilook at every post.

I'm about finished with mine and should be posting some photos soon. I just gave up on putting a piece of leather around my cockpit. I'll be doing the 3/4 round rubber made by Foremost. It should look OK, but is not what Iwanted.

    More soon.

    Bill.
I read every post on a daily basis, It's just that I am getting lazy on my old age and have not worked on any of my models for a while now, my interest seems to be at what is going on around us as you can see by the information I share on FB.

Participation may be low, but interest is high, at least by me.  My participation will be slow to come for a while as I ramp up after 25 years of dormancy, but interest is very high.  But before tackling my Waco, I need to finish my workshop, dig out my "stuff" and work on some old planes to get back in the swing.  So even though you may not hear from me much, I'll be lurking.  The great thing is, 25 years ago we didn't have forums like this one - what a great resource!

    Hi guys,

I said I'd post a few shots of my nearly completed 1/5 scale from the Pica kit. I still have to make up the flying wires (hope to do some tonight), finish up on my glow driver and landing light switch, and see what Ican do about the empty hole in the cowl (dummy Jacobs).

    RE: WACO YMF

I am making good progress on the rebuild of my 1/3 Waco. The 1st time I painted the plane I used latex. The paint job looked good but just didn't have much gloss even after clear coating with gloss polycrylic. This time around I am using Klass Kote gloss epoxy paint. It is a bit on the pricey side but the results are excellent. The paint sprays and flows well and the paint looks wet after drying. I hope to finish the white off today and spary the blue next weekend.
Here is a pic of the center section.

Thanks everyone for your nice comments! Once I saw this paint scheme, I knew it was "the one"! I think the maiden is at least a month away. Got my fingers crossed already!Joe

    RE: WACO YMF

Hi all, sorry I haven't contributed much to the thread, but I have been busy with my AMA Pica build and wife hasn't felt well, so time has been short since first of year.

Both Wings & tail feathers are done, I'm working on the fuselage now. Just bent up the LG and installed in fuse with shock assembly. I installed the servos and have some linkage ran before going to far on the fuselage, have the bottom wing fitted level with crutch and 0 deg incidence. I don't care for the rear mount carb on the DLE, it places the choke and throttle linkage right in front of the fuel tank, had to make a 180 degree bellcrank for the choke, next one will have a duel assem for throttle and choke. Since the model will be a super did the rudder balance tab, raised the tailwheel 3" and redesigned the LG 3" lower with stock tract width, I am not quite sure where fuse stations were moved to get the 10" length overall length increase, so I built the fuse to plan.

I see -7 used the same full size Waco to model as I have, you did a great job, even the axel covers on wheel pants nice detail, what type of paint did you you use? I am thinking about water based house paint, have used it in the past, it's easy to color match, but gloss is somewhat of a problem.

The only concern I have is the wheel pants, Fibertec n more's cowl is great but wheel pants are 3/4" to wide and not quite the right profile. I could cut it out down the center, but that would shorten them too much. Thought about making my own fiberglass mold, which is the only way I can see to get multiple copies of the correct shape. Does anyone have a better solution? Started to carve a scale WP and one of my dogs found it and chewed the rear section, oh well I think I will do it in foam anyway. Will try to contribute to the thread more often, here are some pics of my attempts at a Waco.
