Mike,
It is also removeable on the AMR Waco.
Peter,
Do you know of a good source for a dummy 1/3 radial?

This dummy would like a real radial. Just wondering if there are any out there under 3k that would work in 1/3??

Here is a shot of what I have been up to at work. We just rolled her out last week and will deliver her back to the customer on Saturday. This project was a full recover and paint job. The aircraft is a 2003 and has been kept outside. The factory had sever cracking of paint issues during these years, and this one was quite bad. This job was done with Superflite system VI high gloss ureathane. I would highly recommend the system to you giant scale guys. The primer and top coat are really nice to work with. I could take or leave the glue system they use.

RE: WACO YMF
My current fifth scale build has a removable tail too. Wasn't intentional or necessary, just worked out that way due to the adjustable incidence design.

Hi Anthony,
sorry no I do the dummies myself. We once had a dummy engine available but was not requested that much so after the molds had been finished we did not redo them again. I am using some Mick Reeves parts to assemble a dummy, but there are good hints in this forum how too...

More on the CG of the 1/5 scale Waco.
It has been mentioned that the stated location of the CG on the Pica 1/5 scale Waco is not correct for the best flight characteristics. The opinions indicate it is too far aft making the model somewhat unstable. Stickbuilder Bill says it should be 28% of MAC, this being measured from the LE of the top wing to the TE of the bottom wing with the model being blocked up to a level position. On my model, this is 18 1/5 inches. 28% of that is 5.18 inches. The plans show 5 3/8 inches behind the leading edge of the top wing. I can't believe this is enough to make a difference. Just adding fuel will change it more than that.
What am I missing here?

Mike, yes bigboy99 did design it with a removable tail. I 'm trying to modify it to fit in the 1/4 scale model, progress is very slow one part at a time I have nothing but the pictures and his posts to guide me. As development progresses I'll start posting pictures, THIS IS STRICTLY AN EXPERIMENT FOR ME, I'm hoping its not going to be tail heavy or over weight. I hope to keep by bird between 25-30 lbs.

I have a fiberglass Dummy on the way. I will use it until I get the desire to spend time building a better one. With flying weather here it is going to be hard to spend much time building.

Dan,
I don't think my Waco is worthy of T/G. I did not go to the lengths needed to make the AMR Waco competetive. The landing gear is all wrong and the belly pan. The tail feathers are also too thick. About the only thing I corrected is the wing tips. It looks good but not a comp. winner.
I believe Lonnie corrected most of these issues on his bird, not sure about Mitch. It was more modification than I was willing to put myself thru. As far as I am concerened I have a nice Sport Scale plane.

Dan,
I will have to see. I would also like to make it out to Bomber Field in Texas in September. I will have to see how my vacation time holds out. I will have to choose between the events. Too much $$$ in gas to go to both. Pulling a trailer 2,000 miles gets expensive.

I'm going to attend Top Gun - first time WAHOO [8D]. Flying out from California with work in Charlotte on Thursday then down to Miami on Friday and up to Top Gun for Saturday and perhaps Sunday. Hope to see some of you there. My goal is to build a scale competitor for 2014 and I am looking forward to meeting the pros and learning as much as I can.
RE: WACO YMF
Progress on the 1/5 scale has been slow this week with work consuming my time. I did one more aileron panel and did a little painting but I am longing to get back to it next week and make good progress. Should be 1 full day of work from the maiden test flight and then lots of detailing to go. I want to see how she flys with the current wieght and then evaluate wing tanks, scale flying wires and fuselage paneling. I'm really enjoying the detailing so hoping everything checks out OK with wing loading so I can keep going. I've learned a lot with my little ARF and will order my 33% next week after Top Gun. Ihad thought to settle for a 25% electric version but I've decided to go all in with a 33% w Mokie. At least that's the plan for now. It's all Mitch's, Lonnie's and Anthony's fault. You guys freakin inspired me so much w your beautiful Wacos. Now I got the bug bad.
Joe's not happy and wants me to finish his plane for him!

RE: WACO YMF
It has been a while since my last post,a lot to do with not enough time to do it all. Have been applying some more detail but having a devil of a time trying to get the decal to conform to the rocker bumbs on the cowl, may have to resort to painting. Any ideas from anyone who have been there and done that.
