WACO YMF
Hey guys, I seem to be getting notifications. Few little glitches at first, but seems to be working ok now. I did check all my settings and profile back some time ago and don't recall if I made any major changes. Nice thing now is I can actually read the posts on my Blackberry device which I was unable to before. Maybe hang in there a bit more, as this is too good of a thread to abandon just yet.
I am getting notifications and I actually like the fact that you only get one notification until you visit the thread again. It beats having 15 e-mails about the same thread. Picture posting works fine now. There does seem to be reduced traffic on RCU since the change. I am willing to ride it out a while as all the bumps seemed to be getting resolved.
There hasn't been much activity on this thread since the server/software change so you are not going to get any notices if no one post. Would be nice to see some build pics being posted here again.
Later!!

We've been busy moving into a townhome from a lake home, but I'm finally back working on the Barth third scale Waco. I brought small parts back from Florida this spring to work on. The rudder and elevator halves are covered with Solartex and ready for painting next week. I've spent the day building a test stand for the DLE-170 so it can be broken in before the maiden.

Hello all,
Thought I’d check in and see how the new thread is doing. It’s funny I never got email notification until now so I think things will work out fine. I found my self in a situation and sold my ¼ scale Barth kit just couldn't justify the cost to finish it at this time. I did however take the 1/5 scale out and get in a flight today.
For you guys building the 1/3 scale Waco and haven’t got your instrument panels yet I have a set on hand I will never use if interested PM me.

Hi Guys,
I took my WACO out yesterday for a couple of flights. She flew great. I found that the air pressure in the tires needs to be almost "0" to smooth the landings out. My wife shot video and she missed the landings from both flights. Our little video camera makes it really hard to follow the plane and she loses it a few times but for the most part she did pretty good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tm13R5Xk3cM
I will be taking the WACO to the Fall Classic in Lexington in Sept. 21st.

I can certainly emphasize with that. What I found that did work, was support the camera in shooting position against my head, keep both eyes open, and LOOK at the airplane. The camera will automatically follow your head.

Thanks Dan,
I flew the WACO again today and I made a picture perfect landing on the mains, I turned around and the guy who took the still shot the day before was shooting video. I said please tell me you got that landing and he said he did. I will post a link to the video once he has it uploaded. What I saw on replay on his camera looked good.

Here is a link to the video from today.
Tom did a great job of shooting and editing the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GKr6...ature=youtu.be

Dan, that is exactly what I did, we had a small storm system moving in and I just got the WACO packed into the trailer before it hit. The landing was perfect and did put a smile on my face. My previous 2 landings had just a slight bounce on touchdown.

Finally maidened my Waco. Been sitting for 4 years since I built it because I have just not been flying much and wanted to get proficient again before flying it.
Anyway, I put two 10 min. flights on it. It took off needing very little rudder and needed only 5 clicks (about .100 inch) of elevator adjustment to fly level at 1/2 throttle. Did not need any aileron trim. Sweet.
Did some rolls and loops. I kept some speed on for landings. Landed nice and smooth.
It has a US35 (Quadra) in it with a 17lb weight. Adequate power, but nothing to rave about. I thought it would have more power. Maybe it is the prop (it has a 18x6-10) or maybe it is running too rich. It sounded rich to the guys at the field.

FlyGuy888 your WACO looks great.
The prop may be a bit much for that engine. I would ask in the Gas Engine forum. A buddy of mine had a DLE-35 that had a Zinger 18x10 prop on it and just didn't turn the RPM's he was looking for, went with a Xoar 18x8 and made a world of difference. I believe the DLE-35 has a lot more power than the US35.

You might want to look at ACRC field if you haven't seen it. It's a better location for bigger planes, IMHO. The asphalt runway is about 250 feet long.
