tmac48, looks beautiful, but may not be the best for something on my scale, nor easy to work with repeatedly at the field, (want something quick, easy and reliable). Still, can you take some closeups of the attach points at the fuse?
On my Great Planes WACO I used DU-BRO 2-56 pull-pull cable sets and made hard points at the fuselage and cabanes and clip points out at the wing struts. It goes together fairly quickly and with the cable javelin mid span they are quite stable in flight. They might add a little strength but the structure doesn't require them and so they are just decoration. I have posted some pictures earlier on this thread. See page 673 post #16813. Video link there too.

That was a really nice scale like flight in the video. Very smooth! What are you using for power in your Waco? Seems to be a perfect match for the plane!

Couger will have a go at some close ups but not that good of a photographer. The ends with the pins and cotter pins attach to the fuselage and stay there. The other ends attach with the bolt and nuts that attach the struts to the wings, after the initial set up the flying and landing wires do not need to be adjusted again. Hope this makes some sense.( The flying and landing wires stay with the fuselage when the plane is disassembled.) THIS SITE WILL NOT LET ME DOWNLOAD PICTURES!!!!

Waco YMF 1/3 Barth. Lower wire attach to fuse.
tmac48...Thanks for photos. I decided to come from inside of fuse instead of where you have the eyebolts coming out of center wing. I'll have a pair that look like like the front one supplied by the kit. The pair will be anchored into hardwood sticks running fore and aft for each side. Sticks same hardwood used for fuse construction. I'll add some bracing tying both left and right sticks together. All of it epoxied to fuse. In theory loads on wires will go thru to other side.

Dan, first I'd would like to say THANKS for yesterdays help you provided along with Mason and a phone call, it sure will make life easier. for the rest of the members - all of Dan's pictures do not do true justice to the 1/3 he has. I laid one of my 1/4 size wing sections along it and thought i now had a rubber comet kit it looked that small. His plane may not make Top Gun Bill, but I do think it might take a critics choice award at Monster Planes. The bird is beautiful, again Dan thanks for the privilege it was well worth the trip.

Chris glad we could help out and thanks for the kind words all credit goes to Mason all I had to do is drain my savings account to pay for it. lol. I'll give you a call when she's ready for the maiden maybe you can bring up something and fly with us.
Bill,
I would also like to have you come down for the maiden if you can make it.

Hi all,
Been flying my 1/5 waco lately.
I have noted while flying that if cut it to an idle, and pull back slowly keeping it in level flight, until I have full up elevator, it does not stall. It just floats along slowly with a steady sink rate and does not break right or left.
Had all the guys at the field in wonderment.
The plane is 17 lbs with a Q35 in it and a 18-6x10 prop. It has flying wires on the wings and wires between the gear (plenty of drag). The day had light to no wind.
The idle setting is just high enough to for the plane to creep forward slowly when its on pavement.
I was told this thing will become like an anvil and go down if its slowed up. Not sure why, but happily, mine does not.
So, I'm very happy with how predictable this plane flys.
Makes me want to finish the second one that I have had framed up for a few years that has just been collecting dust.

That's exactly how the model should react if the incidences and center of balance is all correct. Most, however are not. Glad yours is.

Saw a thread where someone else is trying to pirate and kit the old Pica and Ikon NWest kits. Pica designs are property of LM Cox/AMA/Waco Brotherhood. Can't believe. That in this day and age, someone thinks that copyrights can be ignored.
