I have not seen that model built but would. Hope you build and share it with us.
I also bolted the mounting brackets to the wing struts and use the threaded inserts in the wings to make the field connections. That way I don't have to put on nuts, washers and screws through the brackets, just screws and washers into the the wing panels top and bottom. That's a change you can still do if you want.

I have been flying mine for a couple of seasons and the wing inserts seem to be doing fine. The only problem I've had is one of the bent strut mounting brackets fatigued and snapped at the bend at the end of last year's flying.

Thanks. I had considered that, but had not done it due to concerns about wear & tear on the blind nuts in the wings, or having them work loose. I may try it anyway though because the business of dealing with all those little bolts, washers and nuts is pretty fiddly, and I *always* end up dropping at least one or two.
blind nuts in the wing where in the wing??

Jaybird, usually they use what is called "T" nuts. I use them in a lot in places that I wont have access to and in place of nuts when I can to make assembly easier at the field. Less hardware to worry about.

No. The Du-Bro threaded brass inserts have a coarse thread with "V" notches on the outside and the 4-40 thread on the inside. They are going into 1/2" thick bass wood blocks glued into the wing with an undersized hole. They are epoxied into the hole as they are threaded in. I believe the block would break free before they pulled out. Besides, there won't be much pulling force as there will be functioning flying and landing wires holding the structure in compression.
It's worked very well for other planes I've built in this scale and actually survived a crash better than the rest of the airframe did.

tmac that is pretty cool. Looks very light which would make it easy to tow behind a small car. Hmmm it looks like something that just might work for me to tow behind my jeep for my planes. Would also not take up much space in the driveway. I think I can see another project in the making.

Tee Shirt Update:
I have went through the list and I still have four guys that I haven’t received payment from adding up to 13 shirts $221.13. I’m confident in one of them so at this point I will place the order Monday and pay the difference. This way I will have a few extra shirts if the guys don’t come through with their money. I’m sure someone will want them.

Sounds good Dan,
I am charging my planes for my 1st trip to the field tomorrow. The WACO will stay in the trailer until I get plenty of stick time.
Later!!

I have a very experienced guy who is willing to maiden mine, but that would be on Tuesday and they are forecasting 15-20MPH winds. I don't think I want to put 'er up in those conditions. This guy could no doubt fly her successfully, but I think I am better waiting another week. Springtime it sometimes blows pretty good around here.

Guys,
Fuselage plan first former (F4B) show it being 1/8" ply, I'm using a gas engine Zenoah G26, is 1, 1/4" plywood enough for a firewall or would I be better with 2 pieces of 1/4" inch plywood.
Thanks,

You should be fine with 1/4" ply but more then likely you'll have to add nose weight so I think I would go with the 1/2" firewall.
