No, typically the designers miss the horizontal stab incidence by a mile. You can adjust the center of balance until the model is extremely nose heavy and still need down trim to make the model fly with the correct attitude. positive 2.5 degrees is the magic number.

Yes Sir, it is.

January 2017, I bought it from (i believe) from the third owner in Maryland. I have always loved the Waco and how it flies.
Having been a Dragracer and Muscle Car Restorer for the last 35 years...I was looking to "get into" something else.
October 2016 while watching Youtube...I ran acrros the video of this plane and was amazed! I then decided I would look into
building a AMR Waco....I researched alot...and ran across this plane...it had been sold months before. I contacted the prevoius
seller and he passed my info along to the new owner. The new owner priced the plane (price being cheaper than I could buy/build new for)
and a 1600 mile round trip was made.

Here's the thing...I knew nothing...0... about Model Aviation. Yes, cart before the horse !!
I am wise enough to know NOT to attempt flying the plane.

That said, I have contacted Mitch, and found he is a very Honorable, Kind and Helpful Friend. He has instructed me in my endeavor
with his Wonderful Creation. He also desires that my experience will be a joyful one. He has counciled me in what type planes
and what time length should be taken before flying the Waco. He commented that he had to sell his planes due to eyesight failure. I am always happy
to share about Mitchs' plane and his creativity. Mitchs' plane has found its final owner.

I have since joined a flying club in Huntsville Al. RCRC. I have "latched on to " a very qualified flyer. He (John Williams ) has ben very helpful
in taking me through the hobby at a very slow pace. He has helped me avoid many pitfalls. Many member have positive comments about my progress.
The hobby requires alot of time...and i have always had alot of patience ..so I am truly enoying every aspect of it.
I also greatly desire to build some kits when time and money allow.

So, right now, I keep the Waco covered, off the tires, and cranked.
It runs wonderfully, but is showing its age...which is OK. I feel confident that
I will one day fly it, but, that is years away.
I also hope I can meet Mitch in person, maybe at a meet.

Until then...I fly one day a week and work a job the rest. I really admire all the builders on the site,
I gain alot of respect, information and knowledge from you all.

Thank You.
Mike

Thought so. Just make sure that the center of balance is at 28-30% of the mean average chord. We worked with Mitch to achieve that number and the model turned into a docile animal. It’s a great flying model even with all that AMR did wrong with the kit. Mitch did a great job with it. Happy that it has found a good home.

Thanks for the call and note Bill.
Just to keep you guys informed. I am doing OK. I had a stroke in January of 2015 and have recovered pretty well. I have some slight balance problems and phantom feelings in my left shoulder, hand and foot but other wise my coordination and dexterity are good. You would not know I had a problem just by looking, so all is good.

I still have photos for sale on CD if anybody would like to get some. For those of you not familiar with my collection, I have about 95 individual Full Size Waco's in it from ASO to ZQC. The pictures are taken from a modelers viewpoint with close ups of various details that are normally not pictured. Some Waco's have many pictures and some only a few. Example - The UMF pictures on the Pica Kit box, NC 1431 in Dark Blue and Cream trim, that started this whole thing I have about 140 pictures taken by the owner for me. NC 14081, YMF, White with Blue trim has over 300 hundred pictures. Contact me via e-mail - [email protected]

I do have a 1/6th Pica Kit (5' wingspan) for sale as I am not going to build it. Contact me at the above e-mail. I have lost interest in building models, don't have the time, but not in Waco's and airplanes. I am back in the shooting sports again and am competing at the club level in rifle. I did compete in pistol over 20 years ago while still in the USAF and stopped when I was driving big truck after I retired from the service.

I do have some sad news that I just received from the AWC. John Cournyer, part owner of the Creve Coeur Airport (Host of the American Waco Club Annual Fly In) and owner of many Waco's has passed away. No details about his death or funeral arrangements are known. Many/most of the Waco pictures were taken at CCA during the Fly Ins and John was always helpful answering questions about the Waco's.

A shout out to Bill and Dan and Mitch.

Guys Take Care, I will pop in every so often to say hi. John aka skylarkmk1, WB #26

Sorry for not reporting sooner. Only had the one flight that went well but on landing discovered another week part in the undercarriage that prevented any further flights, will be corrected and back in the air this weekend. The Moki went and sounded amazing and will endeavour to get a vid on the next outing.

Does anyone have need or want for a Saito 170 R3 radial? I’m not going to use it and it’s too nice to use as a paper weight. Trades considered.
