Just wondering while I have you........Can we also purchase wing tubes from you? They are an unusual metric size as I recall and the only availability for tubing in those sizes require purchases of fairly large quantities from China. I have been using slightly undersized tubes with heat shrink tubing. They work but I would prefer the correct sized tubes if they are available.

Let me know how much we owe ya and how best to get you the money.

Thanks again Peter!!!!

Tom
Hi Tom,
for the tubes you want I need to know if the are golden or just aluminum colour? We changed the tubes years ago from aluminum to the golden coloured aluminum tubes as I can get the directly from a manufacturer with the surounding paper tubes. For the previous aluminum tubes i did the surounding glas fiber tubes which took some tie and I had also to face the fact that I had to buy a large batch of these tubes which now is not any more the case. Unfortunately I have none of these old tubes and the have a different dia as the current golden ones on stock. So if you have still the old type of tubes I fear you have to go with your heat shrinking solution.

Thanks again Peter!!!

Well, I have never owned the spar tubes for this aircraft. I bought this plane almost complete from an Estate sale and it came without the tubes.
Am I correct that I can determine if I had the older or newer version of the plane by inspecting the wing spar tubes in the wings?

It sounds like if the wing tubes in the wings are FB I have the older version and thus no tubes are available and if I have paper tubes I might be able to use the new golden tubes. Do I have that right?

Peter,

Checked the wing tubes....Fiberglass assuming that means no tubes.....I guess we just need that small wheel pant fairing piece for the right side.

Thanks again for all your help!

Sorry Tom but as said the type of tubing you have was discontinued already years ago. So only right inside wheel pants.

Hey Dan(Mr.Hud)
Do you know if a 1/5th scale Waco can be modified to accept wing tubes?
Then the set up at the field would be so much quicker assuming the wing halves are preassembled.

Thanks in advance, & Merry Christmas

Hey George hope all to good. Not sure there would be enough room in the 1/5 scale wing for tubes. Maybe someone else will jump in with ideas. sorry I couldn't be more help.

Well after losing everything this summer to the floods I decided to get back into building this week while I was on leave. Last month I was able to go to a swap meet and buy it all composite glider for very low price put my Lerner motor in (another swap meet special...wow) it and it rekindled that spark for flying. The flood destroyed the framed up Waco. A forum member has been kind enough to offer me a kit. So I spent the last week finishing up the wings and covering them they survived because they are high enough up so I've been staring at these framed up wings for a few months. Covering it in coverall and I need to get down to the Hobby Shop sometime in the next week and get some nitrate dope. Anyway good to be back up on the net again glad to see everybody still plugging along.

While I wait to source set another kit, I decided to go ahead and cover the wings to protect them more than anything. The last time I built one of these I used iron on fabric, which worked well, but was very expensive. This is my first time using koverall and it's looking fantastic. In the past I was turned off by the multiple steps required to use this material, but now seeing it on the airplane, it looks great. Tough on razor blades though.....

Since my basement floodeed I have moved my stuff into a much smaller room. My 100cc yak...well that one just will not fit. If the basement floods again, it may hang in the dining room (looks left and right) just don't tell my wife.

Bill, Thanks for your assist yesterday also it was great to see and talk with youagain. As you well know all the credit belongs to brother Dan. To you sir IOU big time, thanks brother. Added information the pilot commented that with the dle 60 throttle only needed was between 1/4 and 1/2 the engine was a lot more then the aircraft needed— for what it worth—

OK I unpacked the Waco and happy to say no damage. The quality of the arf is quite high the covering almost perfect just to much white for me. My plan is to paint her to match NC 14080.
