Good luck to Both Stickbuilder and Tmack

Still putting Barth 1/3 YMF together. Tires and wheel pants were a pain. Attached photo (not mine) of way I did it per plan. I also included sketches of what I would prefer. Instead of bending the wire to make the axle shaft integral, I prefer a separate axle shaft plugged into a hole and held in place with a nut. Much cleaner in my opinion and the piece with hole in it can have a couple lugs to attach both wheel pant parts.

Bill, Sorry I'm a day late and a dollar short been gone for a week, do hope all came out well and pray the after treatments pay off. You already had the theory on bald heads.--Thinking of you and concerned.

T Mac I went through the back deal about 6 years ago, time does tell It took me a while but I'm getting around not so fast but getting around. Get well before anything else. Speedy recovery

He's home recovering. I'll feel like communicating in a couple of days. I feel like I swallowed a running Cox .010 engine.

Just got a call from the intervention Surgeon. The pathology report is back. Negative for Cancer. It took 3 surgical procedures but it's gone. I have to see the Oncologist next week to see what will be required in the way of treatment, and the Surgeon wants to do another look in 6 weeks. Thanks to everyone who was praying for me. I'll be back. Sadly, I've suffered some short term memory loss from the strokes, but they didn't do too much other damage.

Hey Mitch, I saw your waco Saturday at the biplane bash and was hoping to say hi, but didn't see you. Anyway, still looks as beautiful as ever.

Bill I have had trouble with memory loss for the past 20 yrs. you will be surprised what you can get away with by saying " I don't remember you saying no honey" .
Got my surgery date 7th October so will try and take advantage of the nice sunshine and get the red and black pin stripes on the wings before that date if my back will cooperate.

Thanks for the compliment Steve. I didn't fly it because I've been fighting a sinus infection and without a clear head I had no confidence in a successful flight.....if you know what I mean. Mitch

Hopefully it won't be like this year. The creeks aren't all that rose. Should have renamed the place, Parsdise Lake. We were lucky to get everyone static judged. Finally finished in the pit area on Sunday morning. Improvise and overcome.

Monster planes is only 3 week off. Hope to see you there I'll be there Fri & Sat. I'm seriously thinking about bringing the 1/3 scale Waco and putting a for sale sign on it its just to much plane for me.

Top Gun last year lets not see any more of that.

mrdhud,

We sometime do things on the spur of the moment and regret it the rest of our lives.

Please reconsider ....................................... _ _ _ _

It is such a beautiful model and all the efforts you put in it.

Hang it from the ceiling so you can keep admiring it.

Well I have been following this thread for a few years with the thought that I would like to build a Waco on my bucket list. I would check in every once in a while. Well a club member donated his planes to our club and I ended up purchasing this from the club. I just had to have it! Kept trying to talk myself out of it but once I got a good look at it I couldn't resist.

After research it is a 1/5 scale from AMA/Pica plans. Has a DLE30 engine. A servo adjustable stab too (incidence). The gentleman that built this did a lot of research, calculations etc. and all was included with it. I still have to go through everything to get a grasp where it's at. My goal is to finish it by a May giant scale fly-in here. I'm guessing it is about 85-90% done. Isn't that last 10% the hardest?

Most of what is left should be pretty easy once I figure it all out. The hard thing will be the struts I imagine but I have some information that too. I will be adding a lot of scale detail hopefully.

Will be covered in solartex (some of it already is) and painted with either Klass Kote or Randolph paints.

Wish me luck!

Barth YMF 1/3
Slow progress. Starting to put pieces together. My last Waco was a Jim Pepino 1/4 where some stuff didn't fit well. This Barth is much better kit but still I have spent lots of time scratching my head and wondering why they did it that way. Biggest I've done and taking a long time.

Most of the mods to the plan/kits were done right here. We have tried to take the pain out of doing it closer to right. Hope it all works out for you. The in flight adjustable horizontal stabilizer was done by yours truly, along with a few other things. Enjoy.
