Mitch, looking at the weather up north this winter and thought of you and Dave in Canada and started to wonder can you dig yourself out in time for Top Gun this year.

Hi Chris, and others.

We have had NO winter up here in the Pac. N/West. A little frost overnight but we have had a "pineapple Express"..warm air up from Hawaii and the temps have been unseasonably warm. Even the local ski hills have not opened.
Today, for example, is supposed to hit 15c which is approx 60F...just a perfect temp for me, probably a deep freeze for you Floridians...lol
I was out putting lime and moss killer on the lawns yesterday just in a t-shirt and shorts.

Unfortunately, I had to miss Monster/12-o'clock high last year due to losing my Mum, not sure if I'll get there this year, finding the drive down a bit tiring in my old age.
If I do make it down, I may put a "for sale" sign on the big green Monster, see If I get any bites.

Cheers,
Dave.

I am still reading all of the posts before I start mine so I don't get caught up in taking the wrong road. I have a question on the wings though, As I have been reading I have not come across this so maybe it has been addressed. Has anyone thought/done their wings in 3 sections (outer panels removable while the center sections remain on the fuse) It would make assembly at the field quicker and easier. I did my 1/3 spacewalker this way and it worked out real well. I just plug the outer panels in and tighten them down with allan bolts and ready to fly.

Herb,

It appears you are forgetting about the N struts and flying wires that you also have to contend with. The Space Walker has none of those things. It has been done with other jigs and such.

No I did not forget about the flying wires and wing struts. They would have to be added at the field no matter how the wing is built. I was just thinking it would be easier to assembly at the field if built this way. Just thinking.

mogman-Dave Sorry for your loss my prayers are with you. TODAY 60F would be a blessing we are experiencing a cold spell low to mid 30F's at night low 50's during the day but looking real good for the weekend. i didn't know you missed Monster last year as i did also. That drive I'll bet is a bear I know from here to Virginia kills me. if your Monster must go I'm sure it will be to a good home. Do hope to see you at Monster Plans this year lord willing and the creek don't rise. Cheers

Herb, What scale are you talking about? The 1/3 scale wing is built in 3 sections. It's still a PITA to rig at the field. Start EARLY!

The houseofmoy link on the reference page is broken. That is where the modified builders manual used to be.
Where can it be found?

I have a 1/5 scale that I am going to build after I get this 1/4 scale Citabria Pro off my building board. I picked it up at a swap meet and the fuse is partially done, but some of it will have to be redone. I love the looks of this plane and plane to build another from scratch when this one is done. I really fell in love with the plane when I started researching it. I figured if the wings are built with the outer panels removable it will be easier to transport and like my Spacewalker easier to assemble at the field. It was just a thought and something I plan to look at when I start building this plane. Herb

Hello all,
As you all know the new Tee shirts run has been put on the back burner for lack of art work. I’m by no means a graphic artist but I have come up with this design for your consideration. If there is still any interest in having shirts made up perhaps this would work. I still have the list of names from every one wanting shirts but think it would be a good idea starting all over. Here is a link to a on line print shop that would make them.

Dan,

The upper tip of the prop appears to be behind the upper wing tip, just looks weird. Get the prop disk corrected and you may have a winner. Like the black background behind the plane. Maybe put the gold Waco "wings" on the back instead of the white "wings", better contrast with the yellow shirt color. Thanks for your efforts.

Thanks for your input John I will work on that prop tip and change the wings to gold and see how that look.

Default T-Shirt design

Looks much better but the prop now has the cowl cutting into the back of it. The cowl also looks empty. This might be the original photo from Airplane Pictures.net

John,
That is the picture I started with maybe it should have been left alone and not altered to give it that toon look I'll try doing one with the picture unaltered and see how it looks.
