WACO YMF
A 3W-157 swinging a Xoar 34x10. I used to have a Xoar 32x12 on the plane and it performed better. I will replace the 34x10 soon. The plane is a bit too slow and the blade tips really rip.

@ George,
thanks for your comment, but i´d rather install a gas engine than a nitro because of the fuel costs.
Like i wrote, i´d prefer a 4-stroke power plant but i´m not sure about it yet.
I hope somebody could give me a recommendation for a reliable gas engine that suits well for this plane.
Greetings
Werner

Thanks for that. Did you alter the tips, I thought they had a different shape on Xoar tips ?
ok I see you can get a 34 x 12, might try this and reshape the tips to a better scale look. As far as scale goes I have been looking at some photos of full scale props and have seen both round and square tips-- will see what I can come up with.
Regards tmac.

Waco. Attached is a 3-view of the engine. Here in the US we have 2 ways of obtaining the engine, Hobby King
and also http://www.agaperacingandhobby.com/ , I have purchased one from Agape Racing & Hobby, not to sure
about the Hobby King one. I say it may be to large as I don't currently have a set of plans to get the sizes of the
cowl & firewall off of.

Hello Bill,
nice looking engine, but just a little big for the 1/5 Waco. I think i´m gonna give the Saito FG 30 a chance. It should have enough power for a little bit more than scale flying.

Hi Guys,
I took the WACO out to the field again today. We had beautiful weather with just a slight breeze. Put 2 more nice flights on the WACO. Starting to have some fun with the plane.
Later!!

Hi all,
I am in the process of converting My Saito 150 powered 1/5th Waco over to gas. I am using the CH ignitions kit which includes the CDI and the gas carb. So far very promising. Runs and idles excellent. The trick will be getting the larger then stock carb to work with my installation. The other down side to this installation will be that i am losing about 1000 rpms on the top end. I am also using the turbo muffler for sale here on RCU. I dont think i will miss the power too much, and i am looking forward to longer more relaxed flights knowing that a flame out is a rare occurance. If i am not satisfied with the power, i can always use the same kit on the Saito 180

Mine is lighter, but not by much. Would have to weigh it again to confirm.
Mind you, I do try to fly as close to scale as possible with this one, ie. graceful maneuvers and limited vertical. If feeling the need for some gut busting and knife edge "Wild Willies" I have the Saito 100 powered Super 'Bolt. The 125a hauling Rare Bear along fulfills any Mach busting I hanker for, as well.
Just have to find something to make a scarf for the pilot before the scale rally next weekend.

Hello, I just started assembling a Kangke Waco. The ARF seems to be pretty good quality so far and will be powered by a DLE 40CC twin cylinder engine. I will post pictures in the near future.
Best wishes and good safe flying.

I don't think that the spark plugs will clear the cowl. It may require cutting holes for the spark plugs and plug caps.
Best wishes and good safe flying.

tmac48,
I bought a new Xoar 32x12 prop for the WACO and detailed it out. I did alter the tip shape a bit to make it more scale. It is still off a little from a Sensenich prop but I didn't want to sand too much away from the tip and hurt the performance.
After painting the prop details and adding the Sensenich decals I sprayed the prop with 4 coats of NASAAN clear coat. I then sprayed the back side of one blade with additional clear to get the balance in.
I think it turned out pretty good.
