Hi Chris.

The big green Waco now resides in Florida.
I dearly loved to fly it, but the time has come to downsize a little....apart from the 40% Super Cub waiting to be painted and put on floats, and a 1/3 Anderson Kingfisher!.......This winter I'm going to build a 1/3 Fokker DV11 and possibly a 156" Wellington bomber...I have a short kit from the UK .... doesn't sound like downsizing, does it?...well, maybe a little....lol.

Hope to see you guys again next year,

Cheers,
Dave.

Dave, Sounds like you have your hands full this winter, hope you have time to squeeze in a pint or two. looks like the waco will have great substitutes for you to hone your skills on, It was a great pleasure to meet you and the big bird again, do hope we'll meet again in the near future with one of your latest creations.

The Wellington sounds superb for a future Top Gun or 12 o'clock high!!!

best regards,

tmac, super!! do hope all goes well on instillation, i trimmed the angle iron supports to about 1 1/4 in. in each corner then drilled for mounting. with the 1/4 kit i had to rearrange the kit landing gear mounts and fabricate a rear support to accept the new gear. went well during construction.
I finally saw the notifications that I had PM's again my bust. What time frame dide Bruce give for delivery mine took a-wile. good luck with the new gear, hope it increases your flying pleasure.

cheers

Ceije, I did not get a completion date on the gear, recon it will be done as soon as it can be done. I hear you on the modifications to get the gear to fit. What I am not looking forward to the most is the fact that I may have to manufacture or at least make modifications to fairings that cover the struts, but will jump that hurdle when it arrives. Would be very interested to hear how your covers have fitted, especially the last fairing that covers the transition to the wheel spats.
Regards tmac

tmac i do know that the pants fairing fits easily, at least on the 1/4 scale, but that boot to the wheel covers ???? haven't gone their yet. i'm almost thinking not to use the fairings except for the wheel covers, my reasoning being why cover such a fine piece of workmanship, with all credit going to the manufacturer. I do hate the thought of you tearing apart your undercarriage for the installation. tons of extra work-lots of time!!! good luck and have fun.

Not a big deal getting the old landing gear out, or installing the new gear, just the installation of all the FG fairings that has me a bit concerned at this point.

Jim, 1/3 scale Barth. Not his latest mark but still a really good kit, his latest version builds the fuselage in a different and better and truer way, may be other small improvements that I am not aware of.

tmac I just broke out some fairing parts and did a rough fit--the half shell to the wheel pant fits over the gear and fits over the strut fairing, this was a rough fit it was not the best but when correctly fitted it should be OK.. I DO believe there is light at the end of that tunnel!!

tmac, I have obtained a 33% Genesis WACO. Which is an early version of the AMR kit. This one has the bagged carbon fiber gear. The newer kits have an aluminum gear.

OK, that is good to know Jim. Is there any FG fairings supplied in the kit, and does this include the boot that covers the wheel spat to oleo fairing?
Regards tmac48 (any pics)

TO ALL If anyone is looking for a smaller set of ignition plug heads to fit inside the cowl without cutting it try CH Ignitions 1/4-32 plugs and wire caps with plug adopters, now I can squeeze a DLE60 into my 1/4 Waco and not modify my cowling-just put a smile on my face. BILL, you had said something to me about these plugs and wires last year at TOP GUN-Frank Tiano's article in the Dec. 2015 edition of M.A.N. magazine took me to the source. Thanks both BILL and FRANK.
Contact point is Adrain he can make them up for you or you can build your own. Do hope this info is of help to someone..

tmac, There are no fairings supplied, the instructions call for sheeting both the carbon fiber and aluminum gear with balsa. I tried to add balsa to make the thickness more scale and added a piece down the back to simulate where the fairings are bolted together on the prototype. There have been several of these kits that have competed at Top Gun, but they take a bit of tweaking to get the scale outline close. This one will never get close to Top Gun, but I do want to make it as scale as I am able.

tmac, Having scale fairings supplied with the kit would be fantastic. At one time Century Jet offered a scale gear for the AMR kit but they were about 600.00. Last time I looked they were not listed, not sure if C.J. would produce them if contacted.
