When you receive those can you post some measurements like the overall length, width, heigth, etc.?

Still waiting for Darrell to either send my landing gear or my plans back. It's only been, what, 8 years now?

Has it been that long? I'd say it's pretty certain Darrell has left your gear and plans by the road side.

Bill, what size plane is the gear for? I may have a set here if you can use them.

Hi, guys! New Brother signing on...

My Pica 1/5 Waco YMF-3 kit just arrived in the mail today, and looks complete and healthy. It's one of the earlier ones, with the blue UMF-3 on the box, kit number 51211. New enough to have the dowel elevator joiner, old enough not to have any fairings included. The plans are very clean, but just starting to get brittle in the folds, so I think I'll take them to be professionally copied before doing anything else with them.

I've been reading up while waiting for the package to arrive. I'm up to page 182 of 740 in this thread so far, and really enjoying it. Of course, I've had to stop myself from responding to quite a few posts, reminding myself that I'm reading text that was written over eight years ago.

I'm planning to put one of these in the Waco: http://www.westonuk.co.uk/westonuk2_050.htm - it'll fit nicely inside the cowl, and should have more power than I need. I prefer to fly on the wing, not on the propeller, and look to old heroes like Duane Cole for my aerobatics inspiration. I'm building the Waco because it's one of the most beautiful biplanes ever designed, and I'm sure I'll enjoy flying it a heck of a lot more than any of the soulless modern 3D machines.

Bill: if you would set me up with a Brotherhood membership number, I'd be grateful!

Dan does that. I've turned the thread over to him. Just let him know. This thread is too valuable to let an old fart that could die any moment run it.

I have a quick question for any of you guys running a quarter scale waco ymf-5. What size and brand of servo are you using? I am scratch building one and am at the point where I need to buy servos. Thanks, Eric.

ela 1967 Eric, I have a Barth 1/4 scale and am using all Hitec servos 1. rudder tray servo, 3. HS 5645 MG servos for elevator and throttle, and 2. HS 7854 SH in the lower wing. This may be a lot more servo then necessary but it gives me that comfort feeling. I also have all 5645's and a rudder tray in my 1/5th and they work great. again the comfort thing. hope this helps

Thanks guys. I was thinking of going 755's all around and a 645 for throttle. Is that major overkill?

Well, I've reached page 300 in this thread, and am still enjoying it.

Question: has some other site replaced the House of Moy as a repository for plans and documentation? I found the plans, including Stickbuilder's part tracings, on Outerzone (http://www.outerzone.co.uk/plan_details.asp?ID=3269), but it seems quite a bit more information was available on the Moy site, and the wayback machine isn't being helpful...

Oh, and did anything become of Dick Watz' ambition to design a scaleable UPF-7 plan?

Chris, thanks for the offer of the gear, but I'm talking about the scale oleo gear that Darrell was supposed to be making. I have the custom gear that I built for mine, with the shock absorbing sway links. Mine will be just fine. Just wanted a set of Sierra gear for it.

That information was used by Outerzone without permission. Dick's health is keeping him from completing the UPF plan the same as my issues have brought my 27% YMF to a halt. I'm trying to complete my scale outline fifth scale YMF while I still can. I'm hopeful that I can do it before I croak.

Well, at least that means it's out there. I'm sure whoever runs Outerzone would be happy to add links to this thread, and to the AMA's offering of the newer edition of the plan, if informed of them. After all, they're already explaining where they got the material from, and, from their point of view, keeping something available that came from a now dead web site.

Ouch! I'm so sorry to learn that you're not well. Please accept my best wishes - and then pull yourself together and damn well stay alive until I've got my YMF-3 flying: I'm expecting to need good advice along the way, and do you really want to be responsible for what happens when someone else has to step in and offer it?

It's weird, you know: in my time line, reading the thread, you're just retiring today, and planning to move to Tennessee...
