Maybe these photos will show how they adjust. I can't get close enough to show the threads clearly, but you can see the difference in length between the 2 photos. These are about the extreme limits of adjustment.

A few days ago I met??? a gentleman on a warbirds site, he was kind enough to supply me with copys of the Waco company memo on the xjw detailing the navy requirement for paint colors and all necce3ssary markings. Not to mention the original owner certificates detailing serial numbers on all installed equipment. Now all I have to do is wait for nat. air and space to send the requested factory drawings and I can start on the project. Waiting sure is fun.

Jay is getting the quotes of the T-shirts now. We are going to order 110 shirts. I have orders for 100. I wish that we could have gotten orders for one gross, but that's what we have.

The party? Just as soon as everyone ponies up the $500.00 per head admission fee. If the politicians can charge 30 grand per head, a Waco party should be worth 500.

Hi All,

its cold here in Germany and something like a blizzard was forcasted for this afternoon. As we have carnival season here it may be dificult to pick up the sweets they are throwing from the carnival wagons.

Iam also downstairs manufacturing the parts for the Waco kits ordered respec. will be ordered plus to off are under assembly (a quarter scale and a third scale Waco). The quarter scale is close to be covered the third is at its very beginning just the fuse done. I am going now back down.

Great to hear from you. We had our local Mardi-Gras last night, but the temperature is 70f, so no danger of the sweets sticking to the ground.

I've just come from the shop, where I completed the diagonal Cabane strut bracing.

Dan, I included a photo of the sheeting on the turtledeck for you, and there are a couple of photos of the Horizontal Stabilizer at the extremes of travel.

Bill what are you using to attach the tubing on your diagonals? I used JB Weld on my 1/4 and I also bent a piece of music wire to fit inside the diagonal piece and made a small hole in the upright for the wire to go into for extra strength. It appears to be very strong(only time will tell).

It is a combination of silver soldering and JB weld epoxy (for insurance). I did a non-scientific test with a piece of the music wire and the tubing attached in the same manner. I attached a braided cable through a hole in the end of the tubing, and chucked the wire in a large vise (vertically). I put my foot in the cable loop, and it supported me (until the hole tore out). I'd say that was strong enough. That was only one assembly, and there are 4 on the model. The diagonals are silver soldered to the verticals.

What type of torch are you using that will allow you to silver solder with out burning the balsa decking? That has been my boogey man, keeping the fire off the airplane.

i use a micro torch, but I have some material that looks like papier mache. You wet it and squeze it out, and put it where you don't want heat. I don't think you can burn the stuff. I got it from Eastwood Corp years ago. When you are finished, you can just scrape it off back into its container. The container is now a butter tub, since the original gave out a while back.
