I actuall saw two waco kits at the swap meet I went to. One was 1/5 and one was 1/6. I bought the 1/5 scale because it also came with an extra fiberglass cowl and set of wheelpants. I actually knew the guy who was selling the 1/6 scale kit and if anyone is interested in it I can give you his contact info. As far as I know he never sold it at the swap meet and I believe it is still for sale (I think he wanted something like $200-250 for it.)

Marko,

Either the OS 160 twin or the Zenoah G-26 is a great choice for this one. How about you becoming a Brother?

Bill, Waco Brother #1
Hi Bill,

Funny you should mention the "brotherhood". I was just wondering what it takes to become one?

Thanks Pete. My bank charged me $30.00 to make the payment,"
all these charges come to more than the purchase price"
IF you want I will get the extra in cash a post in an envelop, I do not expect you to loose on the deal.

Joe, I had a 99 S2B with the Hartzell Claw composite prop. It was a real performer.
Nice! Sounds like a ton of fun!!

The Cadillac of the trainers is the N3N. I'm biased because I have a lot of time in Ns but they are really nice to fly.
I've heard that they fly very nicely, but I have never had the opportunity to fly one. You're right about the UPF-7. VERY nice controls, and great fun to fly. We enjoy ours very much.

One thing I just can't understand on the new build Wacos is all the avionics they cram into them. Now you can even get one with an all glass panel. Just give me the bare basics of instruments a comm radio and a transponder and I'm happy.
Sounds like You and I think alike! Give me a nice, light airplane with good performance and I'm happy. Who needs instruments and glass? It's all about looking out through the wings and wires!!!

Cheers!

Joe

There is nothing like flying open cockpit and I would encourage any one of you to jump at the chance if you can beg or buy a ride.
AMEN, Brother. The two absolute highlights of my times in an airplane were the rides in Waco Joe's UPF-7 and the Stearman ride I got over St. Louis. A close third, but just not the same without the wind in my face, was the approach and landing at AirVenture '08 in a V35B

Bill,

No need to buy me a camera. I've got two already. Just let me know what shots you need and where to send them and I'll get 'er done for you.

Cheers!

Joe...here's a plan for ya. Fly the UPF down to Sun 'n Fun and then hang around for a couple of weeks to take in TopGun. We'll have several members of the Brotherhood there including WB 1 and WB 100.

Hi Tmac,

sorry but the fiber part is currently not available, we sold the last with the kits we had to deliver last week. The next parts will be ready in about 2 weeks time. I hope you are not in urgent need for the part.
I will take care for the bank fee, I might have a word with them. We have discussed internally to develope a bigger Waco, but this needs time 18 month and the question is would their be enough interest to at least get the money back spent for the development.

Burro Mitch!

I'd love to fly the Waco down to SNF, but as I'm going down there for work I have travel plans made for me. Unfortunately, that means the Waco stays home. But I'll be there all week, so stop by the EAA membership tent and say hi, or attend one (or more) of my forums. Check the schedule for times!

See you there!

Hi all. I'm heavily into the rib stitching and taping on the pica waco at the moment. It's more time consuming than I thought. I'm having trouble finding a close-up of the detail. Do the tail surfaces get the same treatment, including edge taping?

Yes, The full scale stitching is 3". Tapes go around all the edges and anywhere the fabric would chafe on underlying structure. The wing should be 11/2" spacing in the propeller arc and 3" outboard. Don
