Henry Nelson Contender
Wondering if anyone has any information about an old Class 1 model called the "Contender".
This is NOT the TopFlite Contender.
Picked up a kit & a NIB old OS15 off ebay intending to build a single channel model for next years VR/CS reunion.
Plans do not show a date, is anyone familiar with this model & can shed some light on when these were available? Was kitted by Henry Nelson Enterprises of Pearl River, NY.
I am guessing early sixties, plan shows a Cox medallion 15 & an escapement setup for rudder control.
Thanks,
Scott

The Contender was published in the July/August 1964 issue of American Modeler. It was also a kit by Henry Nelson Enterprises. The Class I airplane used .09 to .19 engines and had a span of 44 inches. This model would certainly be valid for VR/CS rudder only events. My memory of the Contender is of a very effective RO design.

Thank you very much for the quick reply on the Contender. It does look like it will be an excellent flier; good proportions & light and simple construction.
Will have it going for VR/CS in 2003!
