Gee there are several similar names to that, but in different combinations.

Have you made inquiery through K.A.P.A? What you mention is exactly up their interest.

Came upon a few sentences in an old issue of M.A.N. or was it A.M. mentioning that Capitol is going out of business. Power went out here, laid it down in the dark, and now haven't slightest idea as to which one. But was before 1964.

I have a complete Beech Staggerwing kit I would like to sell. It has 40 " wingspan. It says Class "B" or "C" control line model. No kit number on the box. No idea as to when it was made.

Lets start with a resonable offer? I may want to keep the kit to build it as I work on the real thing every day!

Hello Chris,
Yes, I have several Staggerwing Kits. In the past 9+ years I have been able to aquire 35 Kits, most rubber powered. In class "B &C" Control line Scale I have been able to aquire 1 TAYLORCRAFT, 2 ERCOUPE KITS, 2 PIPER CUB COUPES, 1 NORTH AMERICAN NAVION, and a FLAMINGO SEA PLANE. I also have 2 OLD TIMER KITS of which I am presently in the middle of Scratch Building one. It is called the HONEY BEE. My intentions are to eventually Scratch Build all of the Scale Class "B &C" kits I have aquired. Oh yes I forgot! I am awaiting delivery of the PIPER SUPER CRUISER kit that I have been searching for forever!! One of the STAGGERWING KITS and one P-40 Rubber Powered kits were my Fathers. He was the one who had told me stories of him building several Staggerwing Kits as a child. I had an article published by MODEL AVIATION back it SEPTEMBER 1999. About my fathers passion for the hobby and the CAPITOL STAGGERWING he built as a kid. I thought I would include it for anyone that would be interested in reading. He is the REASON I am in this GREAT HOBBY!! And the reason I have a PASSION to collect CAPITOL KITS!!! It HELPS ME keep his memory ALIVE. I know his SPIRIT SOARS everytime I fly!! You could say I always have a GAURDIAN ANGEL for a PILOT!!!!

Passion for the Hobby

I am writing this letter for all the
fantastic people in this magnificent hobby
of ours. It is about a man, who like many of
you. has this inner love for aviation.
This was my father.
He started telling me tales about
airplanes when I was a small child, and at
the age of eight I built my first model with
him at my side.
There was one aircraft that he used to
talk about constantly; I guess you could call
it an obsession. It was and still is the
magnificent and majestic Beechcraft
Staggerwing. But he loved all things that
flew.
. I remember him telling me about the
models he built of that aircraft. When he
was a boy he scratch-built a Staggerwing.
He made it with interior and functional
doors-it had the works. Unfortunately they
had to move to a new home, and he was told
that he wasn't able to bring the airplane.
Many of his fellow modelers admired the
airplane, and all were asking for it.
He could not bear to paft with it, much
less to give it away-he loved it that
much-so instead of giving it away, he
burned it. It broke his heart.
Who says modeling is just a hobby?
Through the years, as I grew up, we had
many countless hours together building and
flying model airplanes. As time passed he
got ill, but that didn't relinquish his passion
for the hobby. I think in some ways it
increased it.
We spent many hours just talking about
airplanes, and I could see his face light up
every time we spoke.
It is said that we have a tendency to
follow in our parents' footsteps. Though I
will never fill his shoes, I will enjoy this
wondrous hobby. I have now been able to
introduce my son to our glorious hobby.
The next generation lives on.
That's my story about a simple man and
his passion.

There's a thread on another site that has old and Vintage plans for free download.
There are a number of plans by Capitol, sadly no Staggerwing.

Thanks I will check it out! The big problem with just the plans is that they don't show the parts. You would need a copy of all the print wood to go with them.

Default Searching for a Capitol Flamingo kit to restore my Grandfathers plane.

I have the plane 75% completed but its missing the removable stabilizer tail section. Need plans or purchase of the entire kit. Historical and family value. My mother accidently threw the box and plans away unfortunately during the familly estate clearance. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Look into preserving the Capitol Models he was in love with and any history of the company if possible , the national-model-aviation-museum would be very interested in his work and collection as they know very little about Capitol Models and you could also preserve his legacy in model aviation there.
