Yet Another "Whats it"
Plane is probably from the early 60's. Maybe late 50's.
It was built and flown by my late friend Byron Meriweather, from Kansas City.
Wing span 48" Length 42" Cord 7-1/2" at the fuselage and tapers. R only.
The front is a "Break-A-Way" held on by rubberbands as you can see
in the picture. Fuselage is balsa covered frame work.
Originally flown with escapement set up and later converted, but still
with rudder only and of course throttle. Covered with what appears
to be silk and dope.
It has a OS Max III .15 and weighs about 3lbs without radio.
Wheels appear to be off of maybe some kids toy truck of some kind, hard
rubber with "truck" type tread.
So, the challenge.........What-s-it ?
Thanks,
Don - Basehor, Ks

ORIGINAL: proptop
Not a Rudder Bug...it has a very unusual fuselage design that goes from rectangular to triangular in cross section.
I'm thinking maybe an original design?

I tend to think it is a hodgepodge of parts with possibly a scratch built fuselage. The vertical fin resembles the deBolt Live Wire Trainer, and the wing & stab seem to resemble several FF gas jobs from the early 60's...Kiwi, Ramrod, etc.

RE: Yet Another "Whats it"
Proptop & Gang...
Not a Rudderbug, I have one of those ! As for the condition of the prop, its sure "bent" as it
apparently had been against something for quite some time. Nylon and I would not trust it
do to the age. Maybe a "hodgepodge" of stuff I really don't know. In the group I purchased
from his son, Buccaneer , Rudderbug, Beam , three Debolt planes, and of course this one".
Placed this inquiry over on RCG but not much response there. There were two boxes of
escapments, all kinds of tube type RX's, one tube TX all of which are now in the hands of
a collector in CA. Some items I didn't even know what they were ! I was a 9yrs old when
the Gent was flying the Buc on Citizenship tube RX & escapements and 10lbs of batteries ...What a thrill as I remember riding my Cushman scooter over to a farm to watch the semi-controlled flights.
I often fly the Buc and it is really a joy with Fox Eagle and of course updated equip, which
makes it come back now each time within easy walking distance !
Thanks for all your imput, maybe someone will come up with an answer.
