Too many years, and too many airplanes under my belt to be able to remember the details of any single one, I did love my Top Dog, though.

Yep. The Top Dawg was my first R/C. Probably not the best choice for a trainer. It lasted two flights, flown first by Gene Wooley and lastly by me.
Enya .09.

My very first real model was a 1958 scratch built CL profile model sporting an ED Competition Special 15cc diesel engine, while my introduction to RC was in 1979 with a hand me down Goldberg Skylark with a ST35 engine and controlled by an Aero Sport 4ch. radio from Hobby Shack, the now Hobby People.

If ( and that's a big if) memory serves, it was a Cox Tee Dee .09.

Yep, a Roaring 20.

Although I don't think anything would 'roar' with an 020 or an 010.

A very loud squeak maybe!

John.

First control line was a Cox PT19. I then built most of the 1/2a Golburg control line planes as well as the profile Shoestring with a McCoy 35. Most of these were covered with silkspan and finished with dope. Last control line plane was an Ambroid Stuka Stunt also with a McCoy 35. I built that plane in about 1961 and it still exists! it is covered in silk and finished with Aerogloss dope.

First r/c was a Li'l Pinto powered with a Cox .010, but it was unsuccessful. First successful r/c was a Mini Mambo powered with a Cox Babe Bee .049, Citizenship rubber band powered escapement and a Canon single channel radio. It flew well.

Still building and flying.

1st successful plane was a Tauri with a .19. rudder , elevator & motor control, non simultanious. You could get busy landing in a crosswind.
1st arplane was Debolt with a non throttled enya.19. Became a lawn dart after launch. Didn't know you were supposed to use more than 1 rubber band to hold on the wing.
