Color scheme of Art Chester Jeep
Hi folks
I really like the green colour scheme of this cute little racer but can't find anywhere what the exact colours are. I can kind of guess the shade of green but the light section seems more, either off white, beige or even yellow? Don't know.
Can somebody give me more exact info.
Thanks

Unless someone knows the exact color used, at that time, you will only be guessing.
Colors in photos or printed ink are generally different, could be close, but different.
"Spock, take your best guess."

Sorry for not being more accurate with description but I meant this colour scheme. That light shade I can't quite define it. Has anybody have 3 view of this scheme?

It's been my opinnion for a long time that this image is an original B&W photo that has been hand painted/tinted. Quite a common practice in the 20s thru 40s. So, it's anyone's quess as to what the actual colors were or the exact shades/hues.
Perhaps further research will turn up written documentation as to the actual colors used. But if all you have to go by is this photo, then simply match it as best as you can. If you plan to compete in Top Gun or Scale Masters then you'll have the same problems as the scale modelers who build WWI or any pre-WWII planes.
It's doubtful that the race planes were painted with Military spec paints therefore no F.S. numbers. You are aloud to use artists renderings for color documention such as paintings or model kit box-top illustrations so probably this photo would sufice.?

William F. Kerka's 3-view has the 1936 colors named as 'cream with medium dark green trim, fuselage racing numbers gold outlined in black, all other numbers black'. This was for the later version. The earlier versions were green with cream trim. I built a Coverite kit some years back and used their spray paints. It was a really nice flyer- probably the best I remember of a scale airplane. I'll build it again someday.

Great info, thanks guys. The last post is basically what I was after. It does appear like a light cream colour. Now for the stickers, is anyone making stickers for this version?

"'British Racing Green' and see if that is a match."
From my recollect, British Racing Green is so dark, that it looks almost black>

I've made stuff for the Jeep and other similar racers. What I don't have I can easily make.
