R. Jess Krieser models SkySquire and others
I am a fan R. Jess Krieser's designed models,(My first Successful R/C was a 1/2a SkySquire on Rudder only) and thought I would start a thread for myself and others, to post plans, photos, and reminisces. I would like to accumulate enough Bio. Info to submit to AMA for Hall Of Fame induction. I will start it off with the best known of his designs the SkySquire as published in Grid Leaks and kitted by Midwest. The framed up one in the photos is from is built from plans I purchased from Bill Northrop at the AMA convention a couple of years ago. That's Jess's Son holding SkySquire in the B&W photo.

If you ever decide to build another 1/2 A SkySquire I betcha the guys that hang out at the 1/2 A forum would love it if you did a build thread on it there.
I know I would!
C'mon... You know you want to!

The Midwest Skysquire was my second RC plane built in 1968.
Flew with a K&B 40 and kraft reeds.
I built it with ailerons. It flew fine til it had a spectaculer crash into Lake Ontario at Oshawa.
A few of the pieces were salvaged for later projects. Lucky the motor was still attached to enough wood so it did not sink.
The wheels looked like donuts floating on hot fat.
Thanks for bringing back the memories.

First time using it so I'm still learnig how to use it, to get a good finish on the SkySquire I had to sand starting with 400 grit ending with 2000 grit then buffing compound, I expect that the clear coat will start to show some yellowing over the parts with white trim. but I think the silk, nitrite, KlassKote, will be my method of choice from now on.
