The old Pietenpol was hangared at Rialto Airport and used a modified Model B Ford engine. The engine had to be certifyed and was done so via some person in Arizona (for free).
Jim Seigmund of S.B. knows Howard and exactly where the ahngar is at. he is now retired from Riverside County. I saw the plan once and was not a lot of information on each sheet.

With such a nice engine buy some full scale plans and make a super scale airplane and take it to Top Gun.
I know someone who has 2 full scale that he built; one with a Ford engine and another with a Kinner radial.

RE: Pietenpol - Wanted
There were at least two kits of the Pietenpol produced and they are as follows:
House of Balsa 65" WS 3 channel.
Bob Martin 63 3/4" WS 4 channel.
I realize they are not the 1/4 scale you are looking for, but perhaps you could enlarge the plans and part patterns. Just trying to help!!

Thanks for the info! All info is good. And yes, no matter the plans, I will have to get em enlarged. Quarter scale is actually too small I realized. With the inline OS 300 I am going to need to blow the plans up to at least 1/3 scale. That big flat bottom wing will develop a TON of lift!

RE: Pietenpol - Wanted
Check the AMA plans listing, for some reason I think they have a 1/3 scale Aircamper. Please let me know if you do up a set of plans for a 1/3 scale sky scout, I would be interested. Don't know if it is mentioned above but the EAA also has Flying manuals for around 1929 - 1933 so some years about then. The manuals have complete articles on building the Sky Scout and the Aircamper so they would be something to have if you really want to do a super scale model. Let me know if interested and I will see about bgetting copies of the articles.

Go to this link at the AMA plans service:
http://www.modelaircraft.org/files/p...fs/p-plans.pdf
It loads a PDF document and on page 21 or there about they list plans for an Air Camper with 112 inch span.
