Vintage RC Gear - Videos
Hi,
My mate Phil_G and I started a Mobile Vintage Model Radio Museum a few years ago. The idea was to build a substantial collection of examples of radio etc from the onset of model radio control , where possible restore back to working order and then visit clubs and give talks on the History and Development of the Hobby. I recently started making some short videos of some of the examples of our collection in operation so modellers not familiar with the various old school types of control could see them in action. Phil has also re developed Single Channel, Reed and Pulse Proportional control using 2.4g and custom PIC encoders to bring back these interesting forms of model control but using modern reliable technology. Much more info is available on our website http://www.singlechannel.co.uk I hope you enjoy the following.. As I make more videos I'll add them, or if anybody has further vids please post them. All I ask is if we could keep this thread for on- topic Videos only so it doesn't drift . RE: Vintage RC Gear - Videos
Hi Shaun......
This is the first time in decades....perhaps more than 50 years...that I've seen escapements in operation. I still have the Babcock Magic Wand/Magic Carpet radios...2 of them actually and the Babcock escapement. I also have a complete Orbit single channel unit with the dual Bonner Vari-Comps brand new in the box. It would be a lot of fun to fly the escapements but I'm too old to chase them now but....they were a lot of fun back in the day. Thanks for the vids...I really enjoyed them. edit....Shaun...your link does not work from RCU but it does when I put in in manually. |
RE: Vintage RC Gear - Videos
Hi Dave,
I have many examples of vintage gear on test rigs, as I get the time I will make short vids and post them as there seems to be plenty of interest. Phil & I decided to re invigorate the simpler earlier forms of model RC and also to try to rescue as much of the old gear as possible as so much was just corroding away...Thats how the museum started. It's a privately funded venture, but fortunately we have been given a number of donations as well. We give talks and demonstrations to model clubs taking sections of the collection with us. I have just restored an Orbit Reed 12 set. that was almost a basketcase.. Acouple ofminor faults left to sort but I'll get there Re the links, they work fine from my PC, It will be something to do with your browser settings quite possibly..... Shaun |
