Engine in Great Planes 53" Eagle 580 Matt Chapman
Hey Bax,
I just wanted to ask you a quick question before I purchase my Great Planes 53" Matt Chapman Eagle 580. The engine I am going to use is a saito 56 and a 12x6 zinger or apc prop. Do you have an idea on what type of performance I will get out of this? I know the minimum 4 stroke size is .52, so I'm at .56. I'm not looking for all out crazy 3d or anything, just good old aerobatics with a little speed.
Thanks
Jason

RE: Engine in Great Planes 53
I had the Matt Chapman Cap 580, the one with the paintball splotches. I believe it is essentially the same plane. I had a Saito 82 in mine, and it was a blast. I imagine the 56 will fly it, but more "scale like" than the 82.

The airplane will fly fine. It will be aerobatic, but not 3-D capable with a power plant at the low end of the range. When an engine range is specified on a kit, the model has actually been tested with engines at all parts of the engine range specification.
