Nope, but there was a show a while back I think on Discovery that showed them doing it....INSANE if you as me. There ain't no way Id fly a heli near those lines. Then some guy even crazier than the pilot steps out on the skids, grounds the heli to the line with a pole and then hops off the heli onto the powerlines like a wacked out bird, and starts doing repairs.

There's a company called Haverfield that has done the powerline work for years. I've done alot of odd jobs with helicopters, but there isn't any way I do this stuff.

the Hughes 500 is an awesome bird. Was talking with a gent the other day who flew little bird in Nam as a scout. Always had an interest so I bought the book "Low Level Hell" by Hugh Miller and became facinated with this aircraft.

We work under and around power lines everyday. Even do sling work under the powerlines. And I've used them quite often when stuck in bad weather (just fly under them to nearest station...)

Not me but those are some awesome pictures. especially that one of the lightning strike in a neighborhood. I wonder if that strike did any serious damage or if it hit the ground? And how close was the photographer than captured that amazing shot?
