Problem resolved or should I say problem was operator error.
Performing a rudder cycle (move joystick from one side to the other brfore take off) seems to "center" the gyro at the current heading and eliminates the (my) problem. How smooth it is with the GY240!
However, I do believe flying the Axe with the stock 3 in 1 to start would make you a better pilot in the long run due to the additional "exercise" it requires to keep it pointed in one direction. The downside is the noob crashes and the need to [constantly] compensate for voltage drop causing the tail drift.
