I flew this afternoon and lost one screw from the seesaw. I was only 10ft off the ground at that point so I was lucky and was able to bring her down softly.

I took some screws fom my donor heli and thread locked them. Make sure you check those, you can't see them directly.

The experience of loosing a screw helped the tracking issue. Since they are a bit hidden I missed them. I have a new screw in there, thread locked and tightened both, it tracks right on target.

TEX,
Great to hear about you finding the tracking issue I had one problem similar but turned out it was an out of spec (bad machining) bearing seat/stop in an aftermaket CNC main blade grip. When the darn head was stationary...I never found it loose. When it was rotating, the centri-forces on the grips would deform the bearing stop just enought to drop it about the 1/4 mark. The material that was supposed to retain and center the bearing was drilled out to large. Drove me nuts for weeks....could have lost a blade as weak as it was. This was ofcoarse the old "Sport 500" .45 nitro heli I used to have

How did you like the nitro compared to the 450?

My friend and I are arguing the fact that I should have gone to nitro instead, but I like the ease of electrics.

Take the 240 out of the equation and connect the rudder servo directly to the Rx. Make sure you center the servo horn. If if it still has little throw, check your EPA settings on the Tx. You should start at 100% EPA.

If the rudder servo works normally then it is possible the gyro is damaged.

Check the pitch slide on the shaft, it should move smoothly with the link off. If not try a drop of oil.

What radio are you using?

I've noticed the the slider won't work right until the black coating wears off. It also helps to taper the bushing taking away the sharp edge. The oil will help greatly in the workings also.

Ya the EPA works but the fix is a few things i think in my case .. first i sanded down the tail shaft with Emery Cloth until it was shinny (Thx RollingBall for the Tip ) .. Used White grease and as the tail was still running ( yes i was running the motor during the sanding ) i put on the Tail pitch plate .. powered down and finished the repair .. When i put the tail blade holder back on i slid it back to about 1.5/2.0 mm from the end ( i think this is what fixed the issue because it was flush to the end of the shaft when i started ).. The tail rotor now can pitch the heli in any direction after this repair .. Few more bugs to knock out and i think i will be flying ..

Post here if you have any more issues. Remember to tighten all the upper head screws especially the head bolt. Came loose on me twice. Hold the screw with a screwdriver and tighten the nut side.

What size of main blades are you guys using? 315 or 325mm. The reason why I'm asking is Curtis Youngblood is now making his Radix blades in 325mm.

315s or 325s will work on the 450. You supposedly need the tail extension for 325s on the 400, which is kind of odd; I have gotten blades that were sold as 315s that were actually 325. Go figure.

The 450 does have an extended boom, the point is to have the tail rotor not interfere with the mains.

He's right, 315 and 325mm blades will work on the 450.

Yep-- one of the things that makes a 450 is the extended boom. I just wonder what would happen to an MX400 that had 315-marked blades mounted that were actually 325mm hinge to tip.

well tried the stock blades and do they SUCK .. even balanced they make the heli shake spinning down .. i need to go get some different ones .. i still want to hover this thing before the weekend is up .. my tail problem has come back also .. think i will do the tail boom mount and grab some CF rods at the LHS .. seems like the push rod is bending during the push process even with the boom braces .. you can hear a vibration when the servo is pushing .. just got to keep working at it i guess .. going to try a Trex tail shaft also and see if that does helps any ....

That rattling in the tail bracket is what makes the CF conversion attractive to me. It's old news that you don't run steel pushrods through a steel bracket on an a/c because they create RF noise when they rattle. Whether the same is true about steel-v-aluminum I don't know.

I think as an alternative I'm going to try adding some nylon bushings on the bracket to stabilize it; I don't have any problem with the pushrod action, but I don't want it rattling around.

Well i went a head and replaced the tail shaft/tail pitch plate and blade holders with Trex parts .. everything fit just right and then i mounted a tail boom servo .. works like a charm .. gyro works great .. the CG seems to be off now and is tail heavy .. i flew it tonight with some LiPos for my AXECP ..got a few minutes of hover .. also put some Align Wood blades just to get it off the ground.. this thing is sweet .. need to do some trimming ...

You need at least a 3S 2100mah lipo to balance it out.
