Right thumb cramp!
I am new to helis (as most of you know) - is just me, but practicing with RealFlight, especially hovering, my right thumb aches so much after a bit I have to rest for a while (carpal tunnel, here I come!)
Maybe I just need to build up those heli attitude muscles!

I find that with RF I fly for a lot longer than in real life because there's no refueling/recharging to worry about. It has its pros and cons .

RE: Right thumb cramp!
there was an article in the new heli mag saying something about putting the dampers from your heli around the sticks of your radio to make your hand not cramp up... I don't remember all teh details, I was half-asleep when I read it...

RE: Right thumb cramp!
Well, I have always used my thumbs on top of the sticks to fly with (for 25 years!) however, I see on some videos, a lot of heli pilots especially, grip the sticks between their thumb and forefinger. What method do you guys use? I tried using the 2 finger approach, and it felt a bit better, but since I was not used to it, was not smooth.
Does anyone us a TX tray??

RE: Right thumb cramp!
I've got into the thumb and finger of holding them, but! After playing with the simulator and not really needing to pay total attention to where my thumb and finger were, I'm finding now that I hold the stick too low (when I give more throttle my finger is actually stopping me from giving it full)... I've now realized that I've got a bad habit that needs to be broken...

I use the thumbs on the top approach, too-- seems to be a characteristic of us plank fliers . I've thought about thumb and finger a couple of times, but not there yet; I usually think about it when flying IRL, but good idea to try it on the sim. I think if I went that way I'd be obligated to get a tx tray. I don't think the strap would hold it steadily enough for me.
