Default Good Replacement motor for axe cp

Well, I got the mainshaft and gear installed on my axe cp, only to find that the motor is binding up. It looks like the cooling fan has come off of the rotor inside the motor.
Now that I need to get a new motor, is there a better one that I can still use with the stock radio setup with, or should I just go stock until I can upgrade the radio?
Thanks
Joe

Joe,
You don't have to use the stock motor, you can use any 3 pole brushed 380 sized motor. Trinity makes quite a few 380 sized motors, some are HOT winds, Team Orion, Duratrax, Venom, etc. I checked out my LHS 1/18 th r/c car motors, it's just the pinion shaft size that becomes an issue, you may need to remove the stock pinion from the OEM motor & install it on the new one, hopefully it's the same sized shaft diameter, or the pinion can be enlarged by drilling it out to fit.

Went to the LHS today.
They did'nt know how to translate turns on the motor to motor size, eg...380 motor to how many turns the motors they had said. []
They are way overpriced and kinda small in their stock; but I like to support my LHS when I can.
So, I bought a stock motor at 40% off, plus a whole bunch of spares on sale, 30 to 40 % off. The only scary part of this is that I think they are trying to phase out the axe cp parts for somthing else.

I went to Hobby Shack and they had a ton of the 370's and 05's. They had nothing that would fit my AXE.

I would like to get a nice 370-400 with bearings and replaceable brushes. The only thing i have run into is the shaft size. I am going to order a couple of the pinions and try drilling them out to fit a 3mm shaft. I can find them and all have a 3mm shaft. I am not looking for tons more power, but a smoother running motor.

I'm using a Esky 3200kv outrunner and the stock Axe pinion fits on it perfectly.

At this point I really do not want to go brushless. I know that it is an easy swap. About $40-$50 for the motor and $30-$50 for the ESC.I am looking for a brushed motor around $15-$20 or so. I know they are out there. I just need to find it. The old brushed motors are on the way out and are harder to find.

I did find a nice 400 cobalt motor at Dymond in San Diego. I may go by and pick that one up to see how it does. It has a 3mm shaft. I have to order a couple of pinions to see how it does with different gearing.

OK Guys,
These are a few links to a variety of different BRUSHED preformance motors that should fit the AXE CP frame. They are all in the 380 sized catagory (25mm can dia., under 2" length, 2mm shaft), different winds affect RPM and current draw, more turns = more torque, less turns = more RPM.

This should provide many options to the stock motor or going fully Brushless.
