Helimax 400 3D... which batteries?
Ijust purchased the Helimax 400 3D RTF version from tower hobbies. Ive flow my nitro Raptor 30 for years but this is my first step into 450 size electrics.
I know absolutely nothing about Lipo Batteries..or what one I should purchase. The one on tower hobbies cost over $50.00. Ifound several 11.1 Lipo on ebay much cheaper, but Im not sure if they will work or not.
Iwould like to have a few so I would not have to wait so long in between flight times.
Could someone tell me what batteries Ishould buy to get the most flight time at the best cost?
Also,,,, what charger do Ineed? Inoticed one on towerbut it did not have a wall adapter. Iwould prefer to be able to charge at the field anyhow... so what will Ineed?
Help me out.......... Please?

get atleast a 2100 - 3 cell lipo with a 20 or more discharge rate. I bought some 20 c 2100 3 cells from Hobbyking that i plan on using when i get one of the axe 400's.

RE: Helimax 400 3D... which batteries?
I have 3, 11.1v 2200mah 20c, from Xheli $29.95 each and they last longer than the ElectricFly 2200mah 25c PowerSeries T-REX that Tower Hobby recomends. I also have the Thunder AC6 Dual Power charger from Xheli for $55 bucks and has worked perfect so far, at least charge 300 different times on different packs. Have a Helimax axe cpv3 and 2 axe 400 and fly all three alot (still learning) but hover and ff goes nice.

RE: Helimax 400 3D... which batteries?
Thanks for the info...... Still one question though.
Would purchasing a 11.1 V lipo with a higher Mah rating give me longer flight times? Lets say a 2200Mah compared to a 3000Mah both with 20C discharge rates
Would the 3000Mah battery last longer? If this assumption is correct, is there a limit to Mah capacity that Ican use with the Helimax?

the thing about going to higher mah is that you add weight. where the battery is placed you can throw the cg off just a little to matter. 2200 is the recommended because of the general weight and balance so 3000 would be fine in either the case you rebalance the heli or get a 3000 pack that weights about the same as the 2200 mah.

I hear Rhino batteries from Hobby king are pretty good. They're cheap too. I haven't used them myself though. I plan on buying a pack next month. I've been using Mega Power batteries from Heli Direct and those work great, but they're more expensive than the Rhino brand.
