Default Centering Accuracy

I just installed 2 new HS-5645 digital servos in one of my aircraft. I'm dissappointed with the poor centering accuracy. Does anyone know what the typical factory default deadband setting is? I don't want to spend money on a programmer if the deadband is already optimized. Not sure if the issue is deadband or slop in the gear train.
