Bringing back my Savage....
I been out of the R/C hobby for a few years and came across my old Savage 25 and decided to bring it back too life. I need some suggestions or ideas on what i need/should do. Its a roller chassis now w/servos only. Diff's are upgraded (spider). Need suggestions on what motor too run, pipe, etc.. The suspension is bone stock.. Here is what it USE to look like. Now its just a roller with no engine and stock tires.. I thought about buying a new savage, but whats the point when i got a perfectly good roller lying around...

Nice wheels ! How about XL- conversion kit & New Motor. Maybe an "LRP .30 or O.s " XL body to go with the XL kit.......She is older now, so make her bigger now. SHE'S A BIG GIRL DAD !

All you *really* need are the X SS diffs and bulkheads...available on ebay for about $30 per diff/bulkhead, plus the shock towers.
Otherwise, the truck is mostly still current.

Wont be easy to ''run the hell out what he`s got'' with no motor in it.
i think you should either buy an lrp30 with an 053 pipe, or a picco28 with an 086 pipe,
ive run both motors and like each of them,
i also think you should change the diffs to the xss type with the alloy diff housings.

get the LRP and pipe like mentioned above, and run it as is till it a diff breaks (which might be tomorrow or 5 years from now) than worry about upgrading diffs

sometimes its better to shelf a truck. if the bearings are worn out dogbones bent, screws stripped..etc (truck generally worn out). may want to look into a new x4.6 rtr. there pretty cheap now. on the other hand if your truck is in good shape then have at it. good luck-scott

I would skip the OS 30 and go for the cheaper LRP 30 or Picco 28. I have a really nice Force 28 that Supertib sent to me, I am enjoying it. Too early to tell about how long it is going to run, but the power and tune ability are excellent! I agree, just power up the chassis you have and upgrade when it breaks.

I have no clue what the bearings shape are. The dog bones appear to be fine. I didnt get to much run time with it when i 1st bought it. The .25 mil it came with was a disaster from the get go. ALWAYS had issues with the motor non-stop. Thats part of the reason i shelved the truck and bought a MGT. I had small issues with the tranny but im certain i took care of it a long time ago. Im considering buying the new 4.6, but want too see if i can revive this one. Trust me though its in the back of my mind to buy a new one and use the roller for parts. My 25 was/is bone stock and i know the 4.6 is a better platform. I literally was seconds away from buying one... that or an XL or brushless...

Honestly if i owned this truck i would just buy a lrp30 and enjoy running it,
you will have a blast, the lrp its easy to tune and only i came across a real cheap picco28 i would still be running mine in my savage,
i could not bring myself to part with the lrp so its going into a madforce rolling chassis bought for this purpose.
