Mickey Moust throttle return spring attachment

    HPI Savage xl 5.9.
During breakin my thottle went to full and I found the throttle return spring flopping free. I couldn't find out where it was supposed to be attached so I called HPI tech and they told me it clipped on the carb needle fitting just under the fuel inlet nipple. It looked like an afterthought where it went on but I reattached it and it fell off again. Bending it....same thing. I finally took some fine wire and wrapped it around the fitting and through a spring loop. I can't believe they didn't put a ring loop to hold the spring.
Have any of you experienced this and found a more permanent solution?

Yes and no. The stock servo also limits the ability of pulling the resistance of the spring, a Hitec985MG fixed that for me. Overkill, but I like the quick and solid power of the servo for throttle and brake.

I dont use a spring either...my spring kept my carb from closing back to idle on its own...id have to hit brake before it would fully close.  It would hang up on the dust boot.  You can drill a small hole in the tvp to hook the spring to....I tried that as a fix for awhile, but eventually decided to take it off.
