My XL - Whats next?
Bought this with a dead engine. Fitted a new direct replacement engine and fell in love. Been slowly upgrading ever since. Not the prettiest of trucks but i prefer functional modifications over making it look good.A few pictures of my XL:
Big Joe tires (not sure on the wheels, bought them used. Tires are great for traction but the Terrapins and much better for high speeds)
AWC Hardcase fibreglass shell
Savox servo was eating batterys, so waterproofed and fitted a second high power battery pack behind the front fender.
O2 Max airfilter
Bulletproof diffs
High speed third gear
Integy 3 shoe clutch
VP Pro 17T clutch bell (by far the best clutch bell i have used on a Savage)
Duel fuel tank
Heat proofed manifold (melted a hole in the Traxxas tank before this mod)
The truck is pretty heavy with the shell/wheels/2nd battery and fuel tank but the 5.9 has enough grunt to pull it at good speeds.
Any ideas for some future functional upgades?

BP 3 speed mod
BP diffs if you dont already have them
If your current set up with those fuel tanks then cool, if you want to clean it up do the OFNA mid tank mod
ERCM pipe end bleed
Modded picco 28
just some ideas

you could get some of the big bore shocks from a savage flux or the nice aluminum upgrade ones that hpi sells.
another good upgrade would be a brushless conversion for much more power and speed.

RE: My XL - Whats next?
Thanks for the replys! Sway bars sound awesome, that's now on the to do list.
I prefer the dual tanks over the ofna mod because of the added run time.
Not a fan of how big bores look, but I have a set of the ally hpi shocks on a savage 25 I use for jumps. I may swap them over and use the stainless springs I have.
And yes, that is an Alan Woodall fiberglass shell. The front wings got a bunch of cracks from various bad landings so I filled them with a resin and repainted the front end. No more cracks so far.
Silly me put those big wheels and servo on but didn't upgrade the servo horn. Hopefully sorting that out tonight.
