Yes the X SS diff is the same as the X but the SS has HD drive cups where as the X does not. Meaning the SS is better. the internals are the same too.

Add the [link=http://store.savagess.com/product_info.php?products_id=394]4 Bevel Gear Diff Conversion[/link] and some lucas motor oil and you will be set for a long long time.
If you want to go for handling go with a 7000 wt oil up front and 5000 out back.

they do have the 4 gear setup, the differance between the x ss transmission... (Xss vs X 4.6) 17t vented CB vs non vented, 47t steel spur vs 49t plastic, HD shiny dog bones vs standard, and as mentioned before HD diff cups vs regular's

So the Xss diff is better than the X? how come the Xss diff is cheaper than the X in ebay shop shop? is it beacuse the X is more popular? :-)

The SS comes unasembled ready to put together so it would make the most sense that there sold by themselves rather than in the bulkhead. Honestly the only thing worth the money is the HD cups. That is if your going to keep running X axles. Everything else is identical.

the x has a 47 tooth plastic spur not 49 tooth. the final drive ratio is the same.
