Default Savage throttle spring question

I finished the OFNA throttle mod on my savage. But I can't figure out what the addition of the spring is for. It works great without the spring, all the spring seems to do is add drag to the break. But in all the pictures I can find of this mod, people use a spring here. Bench tested, the brake and throttle work perfect, and the throttle return spring on the engine also works as it should. Everything is smooth. Spring or no spring? Thanks

Without the spring

With the spring

Spring because when you get some time on the plastic slide there wont be enough friction to pull the throttle complely shut. I guess if a high haning idle doesnt bother you then leave the spring off. When I let off the throttle I want it closed and resting on the idle speed screw.

I'll test it both ways and see if there is a noticeable difference. I appreciate your advice.
