well says march 2012 on the site
Maybe that is in the rest of the world though, and march 2016 like how they like to release the stuff in NA

All I'm thinking is with the way gas prices are going it will prolly cost more to run that than a gallon of nitro costs soon

They have been talking about this gas powered savage xl for at least a year now. And personally I dont think its gonna be all that great anyway. But to each his own.

Well here is the reply I got from HPI.

Nasim, Thank you for contacting HPI Racing and Hot Bodies. Unfortunately at this time we do not have an estimated time of arrival for the gas powered engine. I recommend checking weekly on our press release page. If you have any further questions feel free to contact us.

I wonder if we will be able to convert the Savage X (not XL) to gas. Perhaps it needs the elongated chassis of the XL. I've been holding onto my 4.6X in hopes of upgrading it to gas when it is released.

I'd assume so it doesn't look like it uses any non standard savage sized parts. The gas tank looks the same size as the radio box, and looks like it uses the mount holes. engine might need a new plate, but even that looks like it uses the same mounts as the nitro.

I am going to guess, and say a standard savage x 4.6 RTR will be faster top end and acceleration than this thing. Maybe thats what is delaying the release, its so damn slow...lol. Maybe hpi was counting their chickens before they hatched.....-scott

Crazy thought, they said the engines will be released in march. They didn't say the trucks/cars would be, for all we know that was simply the date the engine company gave them to when hpi will be getting full manufacturing on these engines and can start assembly testing them.

I don't see it being march 2013, i see it more end of the year just in time for Christmas when everyone has a little extra money to burn.

I am not buying anymore nitro stuff. I can't wait for this to come out. I will be converting an MGT to gas and probably later buy a gas version XL

Are gas engines easier to tune than nitro's?

Ohemgee

No more nitro, everyone's converting to this palm sized nutcracker.

Bet $50 its going to be dogsh** slow- when it comes out in 6 months or more. I don't understand the hype, there is no new tech in this engine- its just smaller packaging of an age old design.

8 years/ nearly 20 gallons on my Savage/ 3 engines later (stock sold after 3.5/ STS blown after 10.5/ current Picco has well over 5)- nitro couldn't possibly smell or run better.
