"Best" can mean different things to different people. IMO the LRP's are good, and so is the Dynamite Big Red 28(same manufacdturer as LRP) The losi 454 is identical to the LRP Spec 3 .28 too btw - and can be had pretty cheap on ebay..

The fastest thing you could buy would be a Clocked Novarossi 28-7RT......Just an amazing engine...but most likely out of your budget if your looking at LRP engines...

I have an LRP Z28r in my savage. Hits 50mph with a hpi pipe and 3 speed. Probably the best running pullstart engine i've ever had. Absolutly love it.

Yes its a good strong motor but it doesnt have an amazing top end. But I still believe its a perfect monster truck motor for the basher. If you want power and speed then go Picco 28

The Picco .28 is way stronger than the Losi 454 / lrp.28.

Unfortunately none of Neal's videos will offer any kind of comparison because he refuses to run them in MT's. IMO the picco would provide a broader powerband.

Edit: THE RED SEA HAS PARTED!

That's interesting, because I see 3 videos of a clocked Nova 28-7 powered Savage in this thread alone.

Im sure thats the first and only. Ive had numerous discussions and heard many more where neal stated his dislike of MT's- due to that i though california would sink in the ocean before neal went MT. i am truly shocked.
