Default my first savage questions

I tried search but could not find and direct answers to my questions.
Savage 25 the roto start spins and then the engine pops once and the roto free spins. would this be the one way bearing.

and is it better to have the two speed adjusted to shift sooner or later. I will be driving around in a smaller area no long straights.

Sounds like the one way is slipping. As far as the shift point, it's kinda up to you. I like mine to shift at a higher RPM.

You'll have to figure out the shift timing yourself. Shift too late and you will never reach 2nd gear in your small area, and shift too early and it will be shifting up and down like crazy as you start and stop.

Definately your one way slipping, a good way to aid in helping it stop slipping is to tilt the truck to the front after you prime it. It seems if a person primes it too much it floods the one way and tilting it forward will get the fuel away from it.
