Default wont move

i was racing friday night and made it through both heats. when we started the main
i ran about 4 laps and the truck would'nt move. i can pick the truck up off the ground hit the gas and the tires will spin it'll even change into 2nd gear. but when i put it on the ground it still will not move. with the engine running i can hit the throttle the clutchbell and spur both turn. i pulled the engine out saturday and checked the clutch shoes look fine flywheel is tight, pulled off the spur gear everything seems ok there to.

anyone know of anything else to check i'm lost????

Seems like your slipper clutch is too loose...

So, it won't run on the ground, but if you lift it off the ground it will run and shift. Either the slipper clutch or the centrifigal clutch in the clutch bell. I can't think of it being anything else. When it's on the ground, do you see the driveshafts rotating? Maybe your front and rear diffs are stripped OR the transmission has a problem internally. It shouldn't be too hard to find- that's a big problem!

seems to me that if the diffs were stripped or there was a problem with the ranny the wheels would'nt spin at all?

Not necessarily. If the gears are barely meshing, without a load, they may have enough mesh to rotate. However, on the ground with a load, the gears just slip. It could happen... Not saying that is it.

probably could. i bet the screws under the engine were never locktighted and came loose. you want to check the entire drivetrain.

Do you hear any grinding noises? Did you break any of the pins that go through the axle & behind the hex? Can up push it & hold the spur gear?

Are your tyres/wheels ok?? The wheels may have stripped out (hex's) or the tyres may have come unglued. They would still turn with no load. What about the set screws in the drive cups???

OK, since we are talking about Savages that won't move, how about this one. I just took my truck out of hibernation recently and I've been out driving it and noticed an odd problem. I'll be driving around just fine and then I'll make a semi-fast run and slam on the brakes and it'll sound like the transmission on a full size truck when it slips out of gear. It'll sit there and rev like a raving maniac for a little bit and then it'll "shift" into gear and take off. Sometimes the only way I can get it to take off is by giving it a bit of a push backward. HELP!!!!!!!!

Thanks guys (and sorry for tagging on to this thread)

Nope, no reverse module. That's the funny thing, it seems almost like it's trying to shift into reverse or something but I don't have that (yet).

I love them! My Savage isn't as nimble as it is with the stock tires & they make for a rough asphalt race (still placed 2nd lol) but they're definitely worth the investment. They're probably the most fun in the air. Since they have more mass than the stock tires they have a stronger effect when you hit the throttle or brakes in the air. My hexes show a little wear but I have more run time on them than my stock tires which are almost rounded completely now. There are a few cracks in the chrome but they're still balanced better than my stock rims. A high torque servo is a must when it comes to these bad boys.

Ummm, I'm having a hard time figuring out where the one way in the tranny is (looking at the exploded views and assembly instructions from HPI's website). Any hints on where I'd find that sucker?

no clue. i have never taken my oneway out before but that could be the problem. by just guessing, i would say it is located near the two speed gears. possibly even in them.

Aluminum diff cups? Did the stock cups not wear out fast enough or something? Admitedly I haven't seen any cups other than the stock ones but I'd hate to think I could install some that are softer than the stock cups. My diff cups have a groove larger than the ones the pins were meant to go into.
