Default "Retainer For Piston Pins" part #1414 OR a defect?

Hi Everyone,

I just got a replacement engine from HPI, and I have to say RESPECT!
My original engine had been giving me nightmares, that I wrote about
and send the engine in for warrenty inspection. And it seems
HPI was able to cover this under warrenty.

I had not run this new engine yet. I hope to break it in soon, but
here is something that puzzled me. I wanna figure out weather this is a
defect or not. It was hard to photograph this.
If you look on the last page of the manual around the piston are the
"Retainer For Piston Pins" part #1414. It looks like 2 G shaped metals.
I hope I don't make an idiot out of my self here, but now I am just
wondering weather what I am seeing is simply that, or is it a possible defect.
Here's the best picture that I could take, it's not the greatest but
you can see it. This is looking in through where exhaust pipe gets
connected. I circled in red and it looks pretty sharp, and if something
like that felt into the engine it might not be a good thing.

The wrist pin retaining clip (which is the part you are referring to) should never come in contact with the sleeve wall or outer surface of the piston. The fact that the end is somewhat "sharp" (they all are) will not hurt anything.
