they can, and if you are a hardcore basher they will probably get a little bendingneesish

does it take a lot to mess them up or are they better than stock

they are stronger than stock, BUT they are heavier and they DO NOT flex like plastic does. also if you have many alluminum parts, you truck becomes stiff and it will bend easier. and also the paint comes off really easily!!
