Savage 25 overheating
I dont know if its because of my new motor saver air filter or whatever its called (its HUGE compared to the stock air filter), but since I have it my engine has been making a VERY different sound and the temp reached over 340, it sounded like an electric engine, as if it was going like at 50 000 rpm or something, and I would press the gas all the way down in grass and it wqas so powerfull it just did a 360 flip on itself! Was very amazing considering it hadnt EVER wheelied, and now it was so powerful it did flips just by giving gas.
So is 340 high enough to damage the engine? I tried tuning it for ever and it seems it would always want to move forward even without giving any gas.
I've also changed fuel brand, so that does 2 new chages that could have caused this.
I did re tune it after and it stayed below 280 most of the time, but now it wont wheelie AT ALL, should I take it to my LHS (just found a new one about 10 miles away thats trillions times better than the one I used to go to) and have them tune it?
What should I do?
Thanks

richen up the HSN. your not really supposed to wheelie with the stock engine. i never wheelied. make sure that there is smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe, and that is does not sound like an electric motor.

The manual says notto go over 275, how would I know if my engine is damaged? What is the cost of the replacement parts?
Thanks

I don'r really know the nitro star 25 but my picco should not run above 250. If you buy a new and bidder cooling head you could lean it more.

if you change fuels, you should allow 3-5 tanks for your engine to get used to it. because of the different lubricant, nitro %, and many other things.

RE: Savage 25 overheating
because when you switch fuels your engine is going to be all messed up because of the fuel mixture change and your engine performance might decrease a little bit. allow that amount of time for your engine to get used to the fuel and get back up to regular performance again.

OK, I've asked lax numerous times on msn what in the world it means to "allow a fuel tank" and for him it seems to make sense. What in the world does "allow a fuel tank" mean? It doesnt mean anything, allow a fuel tank to what? You cant just allow a fuel tank, you have to allow it to do something, but what?

Wether you said to allow 1, 3, 5, or 100 fuel tanks, it doesn't tell me what it means to allow a fuel tank. Doesnt anyone else here realize this makes no sense? Somethign is missing, I cant just allow 3 fuel tanks, I have to allow them to do something, but what?
Whats so complicated to realize it makes no sense to just "allow 3 fuel tanks"

Allow 3-5 tanks of the new fuel to run through your engine so it can get used to it.
It being the engine, in case that isn't clear. Was that so hard?

Thats what makes no sense, I have to run it through the engine anyway, whats my other choice? Run 3 tanks of fuel through the garden hose? Of course I have to run it through the engine, but what about those 3-5 tanks should be different?

RE: Savage 25 overheating
Tell you what. Just pretend that your truck is brand new and that you're breaking in the engine all over again. Keep this illusion going for the next 3~5 tanks of fuel that you run through the engine. Once we're done pretending that the engine is being broken in, you can return to happy reality and run your RC to your hearts content, hopefully at normal temps.
Now, you could measure out 5 tankfuls (800 cc's if you're using the RTR tank) into a garden hose and just feed it into your motor, but you'd have to make some type of custom connector (post pics if you do it) and even then, I'm not sure how clean your garden hose would be. Honestly, I think you're safer using the gas tank already on your truck.

RE: Savage 25 overheating
ch2s you must be very easily confused or just trying to start something.I understood it as soon as I read it.Anyway I switch fuel brands all the time and its never been a problem nor do I run any set number of tanks through in any special way.Its never been a problem in any of my trucks.I always thought the only thing you had to be careful with was switching nitro contents and then you sort of re-broke it in.Also that it was ok to go up in nitro % but not down.My lhs doesnt always carry the same brands of fuel so I just buy what they have and what my trucks run best on.
