i have a savage in the mail right now and i see alot of people do this to the truck.
and i was wondering if this is something i should get into.and also where do i get the parts.

now here is the real question... what excactly happens when you "blow a diff" and how exactly do you go about doing this?

u mean blowin the diff from the expansion of the oil?
u jus put less oil

im asking how you blow a diff... and im also asking what happens when a diff gives out...

well the oil expanses under heat so if u put too much oil it will expand and not fit in the diff and blow it
im not sure about ur other question but i think ur sayin like wut if there were no geaers in the diffs then u prolly wouldnt get any power to the wheels

when a diff gives out. (usually the rear), you'll hear a clicking sound, and the truck won't go worth a darn. If you pick up the front wheels and drag the truck forward, and the rears turn, you need some new gears.

well there are 2 different ways to blow out the diffs. one is you can break off a couple of teeths off of the bevel gears inside the diff case. the way of blowing them out is with only the original setup in the diff case from factory the actual pin that holds the 2 bevel gears in place starts to tear away at the walls of the diff case. thats where you either go to an aluminum diff case or go with the 4 spider gear mod.

yeah... i was wondering about that because i did hear of the expansion of oil, but i thought that was somthing else... i was thinking along the lines of: how would a 4-spider diff mod help stopping expanding oil? anyway, thanks for the help... it cleared up a lot...
