spur gear
Hey this might seem like a stupid question, but is it normal to be able to hold the spur gear so it doesn't move and still be able to roll the car foward smoothly and then catch when you do the samething but roll if backwards? I'm asking because my savage will rev high but go very slow, but everything including tranny, and gears all are fine.

RE: spur gear
thats all what I thought it was in the begining, but the spur gear is fine and the nut for the spur gear is very tight so it rarely slips.
any other ideas?

RE: spur gear
Hold the truck so the wheels can't move. Try and spin the spur gear counter clockwise. If it spins and the truck doesn't move, then it's melted. You probably won't see it but when you pull it off you'll see it. You'll also need a new slipper pad. Did you check your clutch bell/shoes?

RE: spur gear
Hey thanks I'll check my spur and clutch, but Dave33 when you said I should spin the spur gear counter clockwise, is that with the front of the truck pointing towards you or the rear. thanks

RE: spur gear
Spinning the spur gear one direction locks in the drivetrain and makes the truck pull. Spinning it the opposite direction it will freewheel. What about the one way bearing in the tranny? I wonder if it's junk?

RE: spur gear
the same thing happened to me, turened out i had the slipper set too loose, and when i went to tighten it, it would still slip because i melted the friction pad on the spur gear. just check the friction pad.

RE: spur gear
no I don't have a reverse module, but I looked at my clutch bell and they need to be replaced, the same with the friction pad.
thanks for all your help!
