Default savage 25 tranny

well i got my motor to run right, but now my tranny is not shifting to seconded gear or it is stuck in second gear how do i fix this problem thanks for addvise

there are about 3 post's on this page about adjusting the 2 speed. Is your engine revving high enough? If you accelerate slowly, can you hear it shift? Look in the manual on how to adjust the screw, and turn it clockwise about 1/2 turn at a time, then you can fine tune it once you get it in the general area. Just make sure your adjusting the right screw.

well it is aficely stuck in second gear some times i can get it to go in to first and i felt my clucth bell and it is hotttt could that be from it being in second gear all the time

man i just went out to try my gear shifting and i wasnt out for more than 5 minutes and when i felt the clucth bell for a split second it is so hot i have a blister on my finger now[] should it be this hot

The clutch bells do get hot as your clutch slips...........but you should check it as it might be worn out.

And i turned the screw in 1-1/2 turns from were it was set at the factory.

Did you replace the springs ??

And if you have messed with the shift point on the two speed im not sure what to surgest..........all i did was adjust it in untill i heard it start in first then shift but it was early so just needed to adjust a bit more.

If your bell is glased inside it will cause it to slip........and i use alloy shoes now to give that extra grip.

Sorry but they dont recomened turning it all the way in as it compesses the spring and squashes it.

Have you got your manual for the savage ??

thanks i would never thought looking there for instructions ..ok i think my tranny isant shifting so will that be t late when i have the truck on a block of wood and wot it will shift after a while but not when the wheels are on the ground,so turn the screw counter clockwise forsooner shift right
