Default hop ups list

ok so these are the hop-ups im planning. i got 525 but i only want to spend like 400 so how does this sound?

HPI Dual Disk Brake Set Stainless Steel

Motor Saver Air Filter Off-Road Savage

HPI 4 Bevel Gear Diff Conversion Set Savage

Hot Bodies Aluminum Threaded Shocks Savage (8) (havnt decided about these cuz my shocks i made on my ss have leaked a few times but other than that there good)

Associated Silicone Shock Oil 25 Weight(read above)

Set of big joes (Does bigger wheels mean more top speed?)

CVEC Z180

DuraTrax Clean-Flow XL Fuel Filter

Exhaust deflecter

Sh .28 OR Wasp .28 (HELP ME DECIDE! I dont really want to do much to my drive train except the spyder mod so help me decide)

Add or take away from this please. O yeah and all i really care about is performence.

SH.28, ditch the fuel filter not needed, ditch the dual brakes, add a hump pack, stick with stock shocks, theyre some of the best out there with synthetic oil, and no bigger wheels mean slower speeds, but it really wont be that evident with big joes.

well i would get the hardened dogbones and hardened drive cups. and i would go with the SH.28 over the wasp .28. don't get the hot bodies shocks, i heard they bend easy, i would get the team blue star or the hpi shocks. im gettin 35 weight oil, so ill tell you how that goes. i would also get diff oil, im gettin 30,000, and ill tell you how that goes too. and the last thing i would get is the golden horizon 1/8 single stinger pipe.

yes bigger wheels mean more top speed less acceleration.

Default RE: hop ups list

try this:

Motorsavers-$20
HPI diff conversion and cases (youll need the new cases)- $15
shock o-rings (will stop the leaks)- $2
HPI diff grease- 2 tubes= $5
ofna 10,000 wt oil front and rear- $10
HPI shock oil- 5 bottles= $18 (you will need 5 bottles)
4 hotbodies 7" wheels and tires- $80
tire glue-$5
engine- $170
extra plugs- $ 18
exhaust deflector- $3
ofna aluminum clutch shoes- $13 (fit stock flywheel)
charger and hpi hump pack- $29 (this will solve your slow braking issues)
total- $388

these are rounded tower prices so they may be a little more than ive listed
the italicized brands i would recommend or are a good brand i wish for

r u sure? smaller spin faster, larger spin slower, but have more area. there's a series of balances i think. If not tll me your reasoning please. If i put small, slick tires on my truck it would out run knogs right? I do have the SH.

nono. if you where to spin a big tire and a small tire the same speed, the outside of the big tire will spin faster than the outside of the small tire because it has to travel a greater distance than the outside of the small tire. thus you will go faster than a small tire, but you will sacrifice acceleration.

I'd definately go for the dual stainless steel brakes. Stops my truckzilla ( heavier than standard savage) on the dot.

but when adding a bigger tire, you are adding weight, and will add more surface area. The engine will have to work harder to spin them, and you may lose rpm's, due to more resistance. Think of a boat, a bigger prob doesnt necessaraly mean faster speeds.

Would you spend five bucks to save a 160 dollar engine?

almost all fuel tanks have built in stone filters that do the job just fine.

plus incase something slipped by, the only thing a dirty tank will do really is clog your carb.

thats why you only get big tires if you have a powerfull engine

but my point is, if the stock engine is faster with smaller tires, than a larger engine would be faster with smaller tires aswell?

well thing is if you has same tires but better engine dosn't mean you have better top speed cause top speed is how its geared and how high the engines top RPM is. So with a better engine you will be able to use gearing for more top speed but still be able to accelerate as fast cause you have more power. If you put bigger tires on thats like changing the gearing cause when you get bigger tires on your Real car say you have to get your speedo reset to match the new hight of your wheels.

For example. say if your engine did 1 revelution and say that revolution turned the wheel once (just pretendit does for this example lol) with smaller tires you would go say 1 foot forwards cause your wheels are 1 foot around, With bigger tires say 1.5 feet around that means you can go 1.5feet forwards for 1 revolution of the engine. Thus bigger tires in theory will give you a higher top speed but at same time less acceleration. Of cource you have to have a powerfull engine to get the higher speed the big tires will give you as there is more rotating mass.

Hope that makes a blind bit of sence to any one lol

A High perf motor also has more torque. Which means that you can gear it higher (Big Tires) with out sacrificing the acceleration of the smaller engine w/small tires. Which = more top speed.

If there was one thing to do to juice up a Savage 21 what would it be? Engine and gears? If so, what combo?

Or, if this has been beat to death, what thread is best to check out?

HERES THE EASIEST WAY TO EXPLAINE THE TIR THING ROLL A CRAYON IN ONE FULL ROTATION THEN ROLL A MARKER THE MARKER WILL GO FARTHER THAN THE CRAYON IN ONE FULL ROTATION

Go with 30% nitro, remove a shim (maybe) and gear it for what you want to do.
