[sm=spinnyeyes.gif]well i ended up getting the rtr-savage 25!! the truck came with 2 up grades, 1 of which is the 4 gear diffs, the other is some sort of steering up grade. my ???? now is how hard is it 2 install the 4 gear diffs????? and are they worth the time 2 install?? THANKS 4 ANY INFO!!!

you can do 1 of 2 things here.you can run the truck till the diffs blow,wich they will.and replace them with the 4 gears and get the aluminum diff cups when you do it.or you can put the 4 gears in now,but i will highly suggest getting the aluminum diff cups.

the steering upgrade is the new servo saver setup for it.you can do that now or when you replace the diffs.its not hard.you need to remove and tear apart both ends of the truck to do the difs so while its apart do the steering parts as well

Yes I would put them in now but I would not get aluminum out put shafts.

IMO the 4 gear diffs are a must if you up-grade the motor.......but i now have lots of problems with the diff pinions and main gears striping [:@]

With the 3speed the bottom gear is much lower and i also have the picco .26 engine and its a PITA with diffs.

The stock motor and 2gear diffs will last if you take it easy...........but these are built to be driven HARD

Do the mod first to save the down time later.

Nobody said to get aluminum "output shafts".... as a matter of fact, there's no such thing. You just have a serious hang-up, every time you read the word aluminum you have to chime in, "not me...."

My suggestion would be to do the upgrades later. Right now, enjoy your truck! You will be working on it soon enough. But for now, have some fun!

Break-in the engine. The stock diffs should last you a while and probably won't go until you start pushing the truck with some serious bashing. Once the diffs go (and as 95f350powerstroke says, they will) then its a perfect time to enjoy the other part of owning a nirto truck. Working on it! With the manual at your side, tear apart your truck for a good cleaning. And you can then replace the diffs. And I agree with 95f350powerstroke 100% and also suggest replacing the diff cups with aluminum ones.
