Default savage 21 gearing

I have a savage 21. Yeah, an old original savage 21. What gearing can I swap to for a little more top end and still be able to have decent acceleration from dead stop? I think the stock gearing is 14/52. I was going to put a .28 on it, but someone is getting me savage 4.6 truck for Christmas. I still want to run my old 21 though. Any ideas?

If you look at hpi's website they came out with racing clutch bells and new spur gear a good combo would be a 48t or a 49t spur gear and a 18t cb or a 20t racing clutch bell. The clutch bells are harden steel so they should last for a long time. And congrats on the early notice for your xmas gift you will deffenently enjoy the 4.6.

I had good luck with a 49T SG to the stock 15T or 18Tcb in my 25, but I was running the SH-28 with alum. clutch.

Probably 15:47, or maybe 17:49. Any higher ratio than that and you might be working the clutch a little too hard.
