RE: Top speed of Savage .25???
Why does top speed matter? They speed can be adjusted with different size clutch bells, and spur gears. Like a 52 tooth spur gear with a 18 tooth clutch bell would probably hit speeds over 40mph.
The LST is faster than the Savage though

Nope, I have both a Savage 25 and an LST and the stock LST is lots faster than the stock Savage. It's not even a close race.

I have to agree here as I too have them and the stock LST is every bit as fast as my savage and it has a .28 with the 3 speed. It might not accelerate as fast, but on the top end the LST is there. In a drag race the Savy wins, but going side by side, holding back on the Savy, the LST is just as fast. Top speed of a stock savy is about 32-35mph. Add another 3-4 for the 3speed, and that's running a 15/49 gearing.

RE: Top speed of Savage .25???
It's kinda funny reading all the top speed posts over the years on this board. When the Savage was fairly new, the riduculous high 40+ mph claims were rampant (even severall donkeys claiming 50 mph)! Now as time goes by, the idiot liars seem to hev gone away, and now I read more and more "credible" believable posts. From my honest experiences a stock Savage 25 will pull about 33 mph. A 4.6 will pull about 37 mph, and I have witnessed expertly speed tweaked LIGHTENED savages radaring mid 40's mph. I GPS'd 38 mph with My Picco .26 and 17/49 gearing, and Road Rage tires. That was plenty fast enough for a MT that handles like a shopping cart loaded with bowling balls.

Yeah I think that when the Savage was designed.......Top speed wasn't realy that high on the priority list, seems to me that HPI built the Savage for torque and let the speed work it's self out.
