That just about explains it. Btw how do you like the hot rod pipe? is it too loud? What range does it improve. I want my top end better, should i go with a 48t spur, 3 speed or different CB? How do you like the spurrs wheelie bar? has it taken any bad hits? ow far can you lower it? Sorry for all the ?'s.

When the rotostart fails to turn the engine because the receiver on the back plate of the engine spins freely, is that the one way bearing or something else?

quickster-

can a stronger servo be used with the OEM servo saver. may replace the bushings for bearings also. trying to look for the cheapest method of getting good performance for bashing, no plans to race.

ORIGINAL: quickster47

Real bearings in the OEM servo saver will improve the steering and take out some of the slop.
ORIGINAL: mountain_of_cheese

I've noticed that the stock SavageX steering has a lot of play, will upgrading the servo saver fix this or do i need to do both the servo saver and the servo. What are the advantages of the better servo saver such as the HS-645MG like ashburg used?

The slop is mostly cosmetic, unless your a serious racer, but yeah a stronger seering sevo will do you wonders. I'm very happy with Hitec's 645mg... chaep and powerfull. If you did want to bearing up your servo saver its not expensive, just pick up the appropriate size bearings at your LHS.. I never bothered for bashing.

** oh, and if your still on "aa" batteries for your receiver... get a hump pack (about $10 or $15) it wiill make a big difference in your servo's as well**

I've got a 1400 mAh hump pack so I'm good there. I'm just bashing and can't see myself racing, but want to be able to make tighter turns and have more control. I went cheap and picked up a TowerPro 180 oz servo from ebay. Do you think it's a waste to upgrade the servo saver or the bearings?

I bash hard and spend alot of time at my local bmx track and I honestly didn't feel a lick of diffence on my Savage X when I did the bearing mod to my servo saver. Put washers on your tie rod screws so the tie rod ends wont pop off and your good to go in my opinion.

Here ya go bro: set up all your tie rod ends like this. The washer should be just big enough that the tie rd end wont come off but not so big that it binds as your suspension travels

Default RE: Anyone Own a Savage X?

With my Savage X, Revo, and Jammin all clean and ready for the weekend I decided to do some work on the twin Savage.
I have a pretty good prototype for the receiver box lid made up, I just need to find some tough plastic or thin aluminum to make the final product. This new cover is neccesary because I have two Hellfire 150cc fuel tanks I'll be mounting above the radio box.
In the pics you can see the two setups I am experimenting with. The first is with the tanks at an angle, and the second is with them just side by side. Either way they will hang on the outside of the TVP's a little. I have other ideas I can try as well, just need some building materials from the hardware store now
